Actually, free subs are a nice gift to give to others on Twitch. However, streamer and role-player Jack learned during a session of GTA Online that they can also be quite “dangerous” and even yelled at his own viewers for giving him subscriptions non-stop. But what’s the problem?
Who is this anyway? Jack shows on his Twitch channel with about 123,000 followers mainly how he is a roleplayer on the big NoPixel server in GTA Online.
There, he embodies the character “Jack ‘Cookie’ Knox.” But during a recent session, there was cause for frustration for the streamer. Some jokers among his viewers drove him up the wall with gift subscriptions.
What’s the deal with these subs? Normally, a subscription on Twitch costs money. But you can also give a subscription to others as a gift, potentially giving the streamer new subscribers who wouldn’t otherwise want to pay.
That’s why this is actually a nice gesture. But in Jack’s case, this gesture was used to troll the streamer at the same time.
Because while Jack ‘Cookie’ Knox was in the middle of the battle, they found it fun to give him free subs. Each of these subs activates an animation complete with voice and sound effect, which are quite distracting and even make his game jerky.
This in turn led to the in-game death of the streamer, who didn’t find it funny at all. You can watch that part of the stream here:
“Hey, you’re making me lose!”
Initially, the streamer still thanked the subs, but noted that they make his game jerky with it. At first, he still politely asks them to stop: “Guys, you’re making my game lag, please stop. I’m in enemy territory.”
But the more hectic the situation in the game became, the more the gift subscriptions annoyed him and he became louder and louder.
Finally, Jack was shot, a few seconds after a sub had interfered with him in the firefight. All he could do was keep shouting, “Stop gifting me subs, stop gifting me subs! I can NOT play!”
Of course, after Jack bit the dust in the game, his viewers don’t stop, but keep gifting him more subs. Anyway, the chat was lively and funny, because the viewers had a great time at the expense of Jack, whom they call the Cookieman.
They couldn’t get a grip on themselves, apart from the gift subscriptions, there were virtually only messages of the brand “OMEGALUL” and other subs, which kept hitting the streamer.
Some even instructed others to give away even more subs, others mocked the streamer’s PC. In the end, Jack disabled some of the annoying inserts to counteract the trolls.
Overall, it was annoying for the Twitch streamer, but when he watched the scenes again himself, he already had to laugh again himself. For his viewers, it was probably a lot of fun, and the chat didn’t get any better.
