Top 5 Best Overwatch Players of All Time

Overwatch is a dedicated and extremely skill-intensive game. To get better, you’ll have to dedicate a lot of time to the game. Today we pay our respects to some of the most legendary players in the game’s history, counting down the five who have become synonymous with the game and its Esports scene.

Se-yeon “Geguri” Kim

We believe that there is no better player to start our list than Geguri – as a truly unique player in the Overwatch scene. She gained notoriety when her fellow Korean players accused her of using an Aimbot to play Zarya. She managed to prove that she doesn’t cheat – she’s just insanely good.

Another achievement of hers is her long time with the Shanghai Dragons. In the Overwatch ’s inaugural – Season , they were nothing more than a joke, losing every single one of the 40 games they played. Fast forward three years. Currently, Geguri is still with the Dragons, this time as league leaders and absolute favorites to win the championship. That’s quite a change of pace!

Geguri is known as the best Zarya player in the world, one of the best Korean talents to ever play, and yes, the only girl in the male-dominated world of competitive Overwatch. A true OW champion!

Jehong “ryujehong” Ryu

If you’ve ever heard of Competitive Overwatch, you’ve surely heard of Ryujehong. This guy is incredible. He has an insanely diverse hero pool and can aim exceptionally well, making him one of the best support players in the business, especially on Ana.

Ryujehong rose to fame after winning the first Overwatch World Championship for his home country of South Korea. In OWL, he played with his home team Seoul Dynasty before moving on to the highly successful Vancouver Titans.

Little known is that before becoming an Overwatch legend, Ryujehong played Counter-Strike 1.6.

Daniel “dafran” Francesca

One of the most skilled players in Overwatch is also one of the most controversial. Dafran is known for three things – inhuman aim, amazing map awareness, and crazy controversy.

He started out as one of the most popular streamers known for his amazing gameplay and crazy rants – making him a standout entertainer. When the Atlanta Reign announced their debut for – Season 2, he was the big reveal in their roster.

Sadly, despite an amazing run as a player, Dafran found himself in an unsightly controversy after a few inappropriate tweets – something the OWL hates. He suffered from depression and dropped out of pro play.

The last time we saw him, he was – no joke! – a vegetable farmer. The Dane claims he’s tired of sitting in front of a computer and now spends his days outdoors growing plants. How many professional gamers can say the same?

Dafran is a truly unique guy and no one can deny him that.

Félix “xQc” Lengyel

If you like your pro players controversial, xQc is your guy. This guy’s story is so fascinating that we did a 2-part “Life and Times” on it, which you can read here!

The key takeaways are: 1) xQc is one of the most successful Overwatch players of all time with a huge Twitch community; 2) xQc is insanely good on Winston and knows when to attack and when to jump out of dicey situations; and 3) xQc can’t contain his fiery temper!

This makes him one of the best and also one of the most controversial characters in Overwatch – a recipe for glory and success!

Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang

Some players change their rankings, some change teams, and some quit the game altogether. JjoNaK does not do this. He is the consistent embodiment – committed to one goal, one team and one hero.

JjoNaK is a big star and has been the talk of the OWL since its inception. He is part of the New York Excelsior, one of the teams with the best performances during the – Season . What makes JjoNaK exceptional is his enthusiasm for Zenyatta. As for other off-support players, there are few who can even come close to matching this Korean champion. He’s known for using Omnic Monk offensively – so much so that at one point, Blizzard just amped up his attacks to keep people from emulating JjoNaK’s playstyle.

JjoNaK was declared the MVP of OWL – Season 1, and it was well deserved. His team may not be at the top of the game right now, but with a legacy like that, they will always be the Overwatch elite.

In his personal life, JjoNaK is known for being calm and focused – just like in the game!

Overwatch

Overwatch is a computer game by Blizzard Entertainment (Diablo 3, World of Warcraft) and a first-person shooter with individual fantasy elements. The game was released in May 2016.

In Overwatch, the player must choose between 21 unique characters, which can be freely selected in a loosely held classification system (offensive and defensive class, support unit and tanks).

A character’s three to four different abilities can be controlled and activated through the mouse and keyboard. The game modes already vary from scoring points to cargo hauling. Team play is required in both modes, as each character takes on a specific role in the battlefield (e.g. heal teammates, provide backup, or secure defensive lines).

The name Overwatch derives itself from a fictional elite military unit that came together when robots tried to subjugate humanity in a near future. Individual characters are associated with this unit in the game, while others oppose it. It is not yet known whether the storyline will continue in multiplayer.

Brawl

Brawl is a game mode in which time-limited rule variations of the well-known modes are drawn. Sometimes completely new game modes are used in Brawls.

Rule variations include, for example, the restriction to certain heroes or classes, changes to the cool-down times or certain cards. New game modes that have been playable so far include a soccer game and a PvE mode.

Usually, Brawls are restarted as Brawl of the Week every Tuesday at 22:00 UTC and are then playable for a week. On certain occasions, such as – Season al events, Brawls may also be playable for a longer or shorter period of time.

The game mode is comparable to the card chaos from Hearthstone and was activated for the first time in the beta phase on March 22, 2016 through a patch.
