Update from July 11, 2019: The Mewtu in armor in Pokémon Go offers a few changed stats as a raid boss compared to Mewtu without armor, although the counters don’t really change much. Compared to Mewtu, the Mewtu with armor has a lower attack value (182), but more defense (278). In windy conditions, Mewtu with armor is boosted to level 25 and has CP between 2,376 and 2,732. Unboosted (at level 20), Mewtu with armor has between 1,740 and 1,821 CP if you capture the mon after defeating the raid boss. The raid boss itself, by the way, has 41,299 CP, which is best beaten down with three or more trainers. As mentioned earlier, the counters against Mewtu with armor remain the same as for Mewtu without armor.

Pokémon Go: Mewtu as a Raid Boss

Mewtu is a Tier 5 raid boss and has 54,148 WP; you need to beat down 15,000 health within the time frame of the raid. Mewtu is a Psycho Pokémon and is vulnerable to Unlight, Beetle, and Spirit type attacks. For Mewtu, you should be at least three trainers with well-chosen counters. Accordingly, Pokémon like Despotar, Giratina (Original Form), Gengar or even Mewtu itself are suitable counter pocket monsters. In foggy weather, your attackers’ Unlight attacks are most effective, and in rainy weather, your Mon’s Beetle attacks are buffed. Don’t be surprised, however, if Mewtu has the Charge Attack Focus Blast – with it, the legendary Mon will instantly send your Despotar to the brink.

Mewtu can have the following charge attacks: Ice Beam (damage is boosted in snow), Thunder Bolt (damage is boosted in rainy weather), Flame Throw (damage is boosted in sunny weather), and Focus Blast (damage is boosted in cloudy weather). So watch out!

For the fight against Mewtu as a raid boss in Pokémon Go, we recommend the following attackers:

  • Despotar with the attacks Bite and Crunch.
  • Giratina (archetype) with the attacks Dark Claw and Haunted Ball
  • Mewtu with the attacks Psycho Blade and Haunted Ball
  • Gengar with the attacks dark claw/snarl and haunted ball

Other good counters to fill up your team with are:

  • Snibunna with the attacks Feint and Parasite.
  • Hundemon with the attacks Standpauke and Schmarotzer
  • Absol with the attacks Standpauke and Finsteraura
  • Pinsir with the attacks Beetle Bite and Cross Scissors
  • Raikou with the attacks Thunder Shock and Haunted Ball
  • Traunmagil with the attacks Low Blow and Spookball
  • Yanmega with the attacks Beetle Bite and Beetle Hum

You can additionally attack with Banette (with Dark Claw/Spookball) and Tohaido (with Bite and Crunch), but both of them are right glass cannons; so they don’t last much.

Pokémon Go: Catch Mewtu

Once you’ve defeated Mewtu as a raid boss, you’ll get a chance to catch the Psycho Pocket Monster. If windy weather is currently prevailing, then Mewtu will be boosted to level 25 and have CP in the range between 2,868 and 2,984 (perfect 100% IV value). If Mewtu is not booted, then it has CP in the range of 2,294 to 2,387 (perfect 100% IV value) at level 20. Have fun!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
