Countless weapons, attachments, buffs and nerfs make it hard for the casual gamer to keep up in Warzone. Is the meta changing too quickly? Many players complain that the meta changes too quickly in Warzone. They say there is hardly time to unlock weapons and attachments to adapt to the changes. Is that true?
Meta changes on the assembly line
After more than two years of Warzone, there are now over 100 different weapons and more than twice as many weapon attachments. Who can keep track of them all, let alone unlock them all?
When a new update comes into the game or a new weapon is introduced, it often means that the meta changes completely once again. Buffs and nerfs to existing weapons or the release of new and better weapons mean that we have to completely rethink our loadout on an almost weekly basis.
The NZ-41 was considered average before – Season 3. In the meantime, despite various nerfs, it has become an indispensable part of any loadout.
In itself, it also speaks for the developers that they are eager to introduce new content and adapt existing ones. However, the frequency of these changes has become so high that the average casual gamer can hardly keep up. Weapons and attachments that were top-notch yesterday can be rendered useless by updates just one day later. Others, however, are improved so much that they can suddenly be found in every loadout.
New content and buffs/nerfs lead to a constant change in the meta in Warzone, making it necessary to constantly use different weapons to stay competitive. A good example of this is the Marco 5, the H4 Blixen and the NZ-41, which can be found in almost every loadout.
We have no time after all
Countless guides, videos and Warzone experts, tell us which weapons have been improved or toned down in the latest update and what attachments we should play them with. Even for me as a gaming editor, someone who deals with Warzone for a living, it has become difficult at times to stay up to date.
The main problem with this, however, is that most players haven’t even unlocked all the necessary attachments to equip the configuration suggested in the guides. In addition, many of the meta weapons are tied to the Battle Pass, i.e. real money.
For a large part of the weapons, we have to reach 70 levels to earn all the attachments. This takes effort, nerves and, above all, a lot of time. If you don’t have dozens of weapon XP boosters lying around or make 30 kills in every match, you have the mammoth task of playing up the new meta weapons after every update with changes to the weapon balance.
The time aspect is particularly annoying for many players and is the subject of discussion on Reddit. Casual gamers would have disadvantages due to the constant changes and would be without a chance as soon as opponents get to their loadout. A solution for the problem will probably not be found for the time being, considering that MW II and Warzone 2.0 are supposed to be released in a few months. In the meantime, we’ll tell you a trick to save at least a little time when leveling.
Having to level up each weapon individually might soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new mechanic in MW II. In the new CoD title, we will no longer earn upgrades for each weapon individually, but by weapon type (AR, SMG, etc.).
