“This is so much money”

In Counter-Strike: “Global Offensive”, individual skins are extremely valuable. There is a lively skin trade on Steam: now a member of the community noticed on September 15 that a collector with one of the most valuable inventories on has included a “game ban”. This causes concern – but not for the banned player, but for others.

Why is the account so extremely valuable?

  • The Steam account of the player “Seacat” has some of the rarest skins in CS:GO ever combined on his account. A skin in CS:GO is as good as cash – there is a lot of betting and trading going on for the skins.
  • The value of the account was estimated by an expert in July at about $4.7 million.
  • The account is private, but a TikTok video drew attention to the Steam account 11 days ago. It said it was the “most valuable inventory in CS:GO”: half a million US dollars worth of unglued stickers alone, and the AKs in the collection were worth as much as 1.3 million US dollars.

Now this triggered the discussion: Since this morning there is a discussion on Twitter that the player with the insanely valuable inventory has received a “GameBann” on Steam.

This does not have to be related to CS:GO, but can have happened in any game.

Why is this such a hot discussion? The account is so valuable that a ban hurts the hearts of many CS:GO players. People say:

  • “Oh God, there’s so much money involved. […] All those unique skins would be gone forever into the void.”
  • “OMFG, there’s so much money – and all those beautiful items – shit.”

“Rip Cheaterino”

What could be behind the ban? There is no statement from the player or info. Speculation is thrust into this vacuum:

Some speculate that the TikTok video may have led to the ban because many people are now aware of the “rich collector” and have reported the account.

There is a ban wave going around in CS:GO right now. Apparently, a private cheat was discovered that had been circulating undetected in CS:GO for years.

Therefore, some now suspect that the user Seacat has used this cheat and has now been convicted and banned:

Therefore, under the Steam account many users write something like “RIP Cheaterino” – they assume the collector was caught by a wave of bans in CS:GO.

However, many can’t even imagine how someone with such a valuable inventory can risk their fortune.

Are the skins really gone? That is not known at the moment.

It could also be that the ban is harmless and has no effect on CS:GO. So another skin dealer writes: He can confirm that the ban is for another game. So there would be no crisis.

When your Steam account is so valuable that others worry

Here’s what’s behind it: In February 2022, Valve banned the biggest skin collector in CS:GO in China, “QKSS.” However, this was a Vac ban: this meant that 2 million US dollars worth of skins were lost.

The ban of QKSS was a big deal at the time – the case of Seacat could be even bigger and would have had an impact on the market.

It’s definitely interesting when you have such a valuable account on Steam that other users worry when you get banned:
