Destiny 2: “Lightfall”, Strang, Epic Store

“Lightfall”, beach, : these are the highlights of the “” showcase.

Leipzig – New DLC, new focus and lots of free content. With a big showcase, developer Bungie revealed on Tuesday what fans of “Destiny 2” can expect in the coming months. We have summarized the biggest highlights.

With Strand, a new focus awaits us in “Destiny 2: Lightfall”, which brings, among other things, a grappling hook. How the “Alliance Arena” made it into the game, however, is a mystery to us. © Bungie

Tuesday evening was presented. Developer Bungie had invited to the big showcase to not only unveil the next chapter of its shooter hit “Destiny 2”, but to present a truckload of other milestones right away.

Just in time for the start of the new – Season , the “- Season of Plunder”, there was another fancy trailer, as well as for the new (old) raid “King’s Fall”. In addition, “Destiny 2” is now also available in the Epic Store, which is linked to some promotions as well as a collaboration with “” and “Fall Guys”.

To go into every detail of the presentation would go beyond the scope here, especially since I want to devote myself to the new – Season in a separate article anyway.

To make the whole thing a bit clearer instead, here now follow my…

Five highlights of the big “Destiny 2: Lightfall” showcase

Neomuna is a vibrant metropolis bathed in neon colors, providing a stark contrast to previous worlds in "Destiny". We can't wait now to explore this city with our grappling hook.

New story in new environment

In Lightfall, players are transported to Neomuna, a dazzling metropolis that has long been forgotten and now becomes the first target of attack by not one but two of our adversaries: Emperor Calus and his new master, The Witness.

First images from Neomuna show a future city bathed in neon, where we shimmy along skyscrapers, deal with roadblocks and even new enemies.

We can even make use of a new tool in the process:

The new focus beach

You heard right: After Stasis already caused quite a stir (and a lot of gray hair in PvP), we get the next darkness-based focus in “Lightfall” with Strand.

Strand is supposed to revolve around the threads of our reality, as Bungie describes it, which players can in turn use and shape into powerful attacks. In addition to the known abilities, all classes get a grappling hook to move even more nimbly through Neomuna.

Were you good team members?

The "Tormentor" is a new enemy class, with which we will take on "Lightfall" will have to deal with. I wonder what the giant has in store for us?

More social gameplay and better buildcrafting

But it’s not just in terms of story and gameplay that Bungie wants to step up. The studio has also announced innovations in the use of menus and social interactions. For example, buildcrafting, which has been a focus for quite some time, will be made even easier with a new interface. This should unite all crafting options on one screen and also (finally) let you save your builds directly in the game.

A new rating system should also provide more interaction between players. Gamers will be able to rate each other after completing missions, thus advancing in a new ranking system. The whole thing still seemed a bit abstract at first glance.

However, more opportunities for interaction between players have long been called for. Bungie could definitely use potential here.

The new "Fortnite"-Armor definitely looks fancy, but it's not the only thing the Epic Store release brought with it.

“Sunsetting” is further abolished

“Sunsetting” is without question one of the biggest missteps on the part of Bungie in recent years. Introduced with Beyond Light, it was meant to make room for new stuff by removing content like weapons, maps, and even entire expansions (that people paid money for, mind you). It’s clear that the players’ displeasure was great and the developers quickly rowed back.

After the “sunsetting” of weapons and equipment has already been abolished in the meantime, Bungie surprisingly announced on Tuesday that from now on no story DLCs will be removed from the game either. The technology in the background is now able to do this.

The fact is: “Sunsetting” should never have happened. The fact that players are now at least allowed to keep their content is still good news, at least for the players.

“Destiny” in the Epic Store and all DLCs for free.

Although I would of course like to talk about the cool new skins, this is mainly about the collaboration with Epic. This means that players who purchase “Destiny 2” via the Epic Store will get the “Bungie 30th Anniversary” package for free.

Until August 30, you can download the three DLCs... "Beyond Light", "The Witch Queen" and "Shadowkeep" download and play for free. And on all platforms!

That’s not all: Until August 30, you can download all “Destiny” DLCs, from “Shadow Keep” to “The Witch Queen“, download and play for free on all platforms! If you’ve only been free-to-play or want to get into “Destiny”, now is the ultimate opportunity!
