The Swiss ESL National Championship starts on February 24th!

ESL Swiss introduces a “new” tournament for the Swiss scene: The Swiss ESL National Championship. The eight best CS:GO teams in Switzerland will battle it out in the Group Stage starting on February 24 for prize money of 10,000 Swiss francs.

The will be branded as a new league, but the eight best teams from the last Hero League – Season will be invited to the Relegations and the Group Stage. New teams had the chance to qualify for the Relegations through Qualifier tournaments.

Directly seeded for the Group Stage are the following six teams:

  • Arctic
  • Babos Gaming (former KINGZZZ lineup)
  • Lausanne-Sport Esports (former SHAPE Sports lineup)
  • Irie Legacy (former Babos Gaming lineup)
  • SHAPE Sports (former mYinsanity in the Hero League)
  • SLNT.ProCloud (former Vision Gaming)

Due to the relegations the following two teams have secured a place:

  • mYinsanity
  • NoNamers (former EdT Sports)

Swiss ESL National Championship Tournament Format

From February 24, the Group Stage will start with the eight qualified teams. The matches will be played as Best-Of-1, but the teams will play each other twice per matchday. You can find the Group Stage schedule here.

Thursday’s matches will be streamed from the studio, Monday’s matches will be streamed by community casters. The best four teams from the Group Stage will make it to the playoffs. There, a single elimination bracket awaits, the semi-finals will be played as best-of-3 and the Grand Final finally as best-of-5 for the first time in the history of the league.

“New” teams, old acquaintances

In addition to lineups known from previous – Season s, an almost forgotten name returns to the CS:GO scene: SLNT. And they want to offer something that is often missing in the scene due to the countless roster and org changes: consistency. A story behind the team and a connection to the individual players in the team.

The idea seems to appeal. SLNT.ProCloud pulls two big names on board as sponsors: ProCloud AG and Google Cloud DACH. The sponsors were not promised incredible results, but a story. From Zero to Hero, a team that is not only about eSports but also about content and the players in the team. And a roster that will stay with the organization for a long time and grow together.

A favorite to win the title at the Swiss ESL National Championship, SLNT.ProCloud is probably not yet. The clear favorites are the following three teams:

    • Lausanne eSports (former SHAPE roster, winner of the last edition of the Swiss Championship).
    • Babos Gaming (former KINGZZZ roster, runner-up of the last edition of the Swiss Championship)
    • mYinsanity (strong roster with “notorious” German players)
