Ace: An Ace occurs when a player kills all opponents in a round
A-D-A-D-A-D’ing or AD Spam: Describes pressing A-D-A-D quickly to reset the accuracy of weapons.
ADR: “Average Damage per Round”, means the average damage per round caused by a player.
AFK: Short for “Away From Keyboard”, i.e. an announcement to be away from the PC for a while.
Aimbot: An illegal aid that lets the user automatically aim at enemies (usually the head)
Aimpunch: Warping of the crosshairs during a hit
Anti-Eco: A round in which a team plays against a team that is in an Eco round (see below).
Assist: Preliminary work through which the subsequent action leads to success, usually the kill.
Backstabbing: Trying to go around the opponent’s team to surprise them.
Bait: You send your teammate in front of you, so that he attracts your attention as a “bait” to make the kills himself without being bothered.
Boosted: Someone was boosted to a rank not by his own efforts, but by fellow players
Boosted (position): A player who has reached an elevated object with the help of a boost (“robber’s ladder”)
Buffed: A weapon has been improved, such as with a larger magazine or better handling
Bullpup: Another name for the Assault Rifle AUG. This was used for example in CS 1.6
Burst(-Fire): Glock and Famas have a so-called burst mode. This fires three bullets in quick succession
Callout: Announcement/command from oneself or a fellow player.
Camper: Someone who stays in one position for a long time
Carry(-ing): Someone or the team is led and or “carried” to victory by a player.
Choke: Squandering a clear lead
Clutch: Someone makes the round alone for the benefit of his own team
Cooldown: Period of time during which it is forbidden to play competitively. This can be due to leaving a game or multiple rounds early, being voted out too many times by fellow players, or causing too much team damage
Crossfire: Taking a target under crossfire
Crouch Jump: Jumping while crouched
Deagle: The short form of Desert Eagle
Dinked: Get a headshot without dying (e.g. M4A1/M4A4 is not a direct kill on headshot against Kevlar).
Drop: Give someone a gun
EAC: EasyAntiCheat – a commonly used anti-cheat tool, used in 99League among others.
Eco: In one round nothing / little is bought
ELO: A scoring system for various games; incorrectly used for CS:GO Rank.
Entryfrag: First kill in the round is usually called Entryfrag
Exitfrag: Getting a kill while the opponent is trying to escape
EZ/EZPZ: Short form of Easy Peasy
Fake: Deception or antidote of a tactic
Flawless: A round in which a team wins without a death
Flick(-shot): Quickly drag the crosshairs over to an enemy and fire a shot while doing so.
Force(-buy): When you don’t have the money to buy everything, but you still try to win the round
Ask: Another name for Kill
Frames: Frames per second
GG: Short form for “Good Game”.
GH: Short form for “Good Half”.
Ghosting: When you and your teammate are on different teams and you reveal each other’s position
Ghosting (Monitor): Ghosting describes the effect when the position of the actual object on the screen is already further, but the panel is too slow to display this.
GJ: Short form for “Good Job
GL: Short form for “Good Luck
Global: The twitch chat
Headglitch: The head looks minimally over an edge
Headshot: Headshot
HF: Short form for “Have Fun”, in German: Viel Spaß
HP: Short for “Health Points”, which in Counter-Strike stands for a player’s health points.
HS%/HSP: Headshot rate in %, based on total kills.
IGL: In-game leader; player who sets the strategy in the game.
Juan Deag: Humorous allusion – see One Deag
Jumpshot: Jumpshot or kill
Jumpthrow: Throwing a grenade in jump
K/D: The K/D, or “Kills per Death”, describes the ratio between shot opponents and a player’s own deaths
Killsteal: Steal someone’s kill
Kobe: HE grenade that causes a lot of damage or kills the opponent directly.
KQLY: KQLY is a former professional player who was banned for cheating. His jumpshots were cheated
War: Other word for SG553
L2P: Short form for “Learn 2 Play
Lag: Delayed data transmission; causes: increased ping or packet loss.
Legged: Leg shot
Long Jump: Long jump
Lurker: A role in the team. He is the one who tries to go around the enemy team. Also called Backstabber
MM: Short form for matchmaking
Molly: Other word for Molotov cocktail
N1: Short for “Nice One”, in German: gut gemacht
NA: Short for North America
Nade: Grenade
Nerf: Slightly mitigate, in most cases, weapons
Ninja (Defuse): The defusing of the bomb with terrorists still alive
No Scope: Shooting a sniper rifle while not looking through the scope.
Noob: Beginner
NS: Short for “Nice Shot”.
NT: Short for “Nice Try”.
One Deag: A single shot with the Deagle, usually involving a headshot kill.
One Tap: A single shot that usually involves a headshot kill
One-Way: Usually meant in conjunction with Smokes. A One-Way Smoke allows to look through a small gap in one direction only.
OP: Short for Overpowered, much too strong
OT: Short for overtime. It is the extra time of the game to determine a clear winner.
Para: Para is another name for the M249. It was used for example in CS 1.6.
Peek: Briefly peeking out from under cover to gather information.
Pick: Take an opponent out of the game. Also called a kill.
Pick (Map): The map chosen by a team during the veto process.
Ping: Time interval between sending a packet to a host and receiving an immediate response packet back.
Pistol (Round): The first round in a half
Pop flash: A flash thrown in such a way that the opponent neither hears nor sees it, but is still flashed
Prefire: Shoot on suspicion at a specific position
Pro90: Pro90 is a term for a player who runs’n’gun with a P90.
PUG: Pick-Up Game
Push: see Rush
Recoil: Recoil of the weapons
Recoil Control: Recoil Control
Refrag: If your team manages a kill, but at the same moment a team member is killed
Retake: Retake the spot
Rotate: Rotate to another spot
Run’n’Gun: Run and shoot at the same time
Rush: Quick move
Save: Save, example: “Go save the weapon” – so that you still have the weapon in the next round.
Scout: Scout is another name for the SSG-08.
Silver: Player with the rank of Silver. Mostly used with a negative connotation for a player who is bad or has no clue
Smurf: Usually a second account that is not on the same rank as the main account
Spinbot: A cheat that allows you to spin in a circle very fast
Split: Split as a team to attack the opponent from different directions.
Spray’n’Pray: Continuous fire while hoping to get a frag
Spray Transfer: Draw on another player in continuous fire and take him out of the game.
Stack: The whole team is close together on one position
Step: Step, here is meant the sound at a step that can betray players
Penalty: Taking advantage of the game mechanics to change his direction of movement in the air.
Support: Temporary help, support
TA: Short for Team Attack; attacking a player from your own team.
Tagging: When you just shoot the opponent
Tapping: Repeatedly firing single shots with an automatic weapon
Team Ace: Won round in which everyone makes a kill / frag
TK: Short for Team Kill; kill a player from your own team.
Toggle: Another word for activating a cheat
Toxic: A player who grumbles a lot
Trade Kill: see refrag
Trigger: Automatic shot as soon as the crosshair is on an enemy
VAC: Short form for Valve Anti Cheat
Volvo: other word for valve
Wallbang: Injure or kill the opponent through a wall or other objects.
Wallhack: A cheat that allows you to see the enemy through walls
WP: Short for “Well Played”.
