The time has finally come! After the alpha servers of WoW: Dragonflight ran for several weeks and were gradually fed with all the important features and areas, the beta of the upcoming expansion has now officially started.
The alpha of WoW: Dragonflight ran for a good month and a half. During that time, the developers kept up a fast pace and pushed new updates to the servers on a weekly basis. Little by little, all new areas were tested, dragon riding was refined and the new talent trees of the classes were implemented. The results have obviously pleased the responsible people at Blizzard. Because the alpha servers have now been shut down and the beta has officially started!
For the time being, this is still a closed beta, to which you can only gain access if you have officially registered on the WoW website. However, the developers seem to be very generous with the invitations. There are already a lot of players in the first wave. According to official statements, these should only be community veterans, representatives of the press and fan sites, as well as friends and family, but Blizzard seems to define this very broadly. In addition, official mails with the invitations are to be sent out. However, the past has shown that these mails also like to disappear in the netherworld. So check your launcher now to see if you already have access to the WoW: Dragonflight beta.
WoW: Dragonflight Beta officially launched!

The World of Warcraft beta test (buy now )®: Dragonflight begins today! During the test, we invite community veterans, press and fan site representatives, and friends and family to try out the upcoming expansion and provide feedback.
For the test, select players* will receive an email invitation with instructions to download the game client directly from the Battle.net desktop app. As always, watch out for phishing attempts – if you’re unsure if you’ve received a legitimate invitation, log into your Battle.net account and make sure you’ve received a beta license for Dragonflight (found under “Game Accounts”).
FIRST STEPS
If you want to help test Dragonflight, you can sign up for beta testing. We will select testers from the registered players and send out invitations periodically during the testing period. If you are selected to participate in the beta test, your Battle.net account will be unlocked for access.
- Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
- Launch the Battle.net Desktop App – you may need to update it if you haven’t launched it recently. If you haven’t installed the app yet, you can download it here.
- Once Battle.net is installed and up to date, select World of Warcraft from your list of games.
- From the Game Version drop-down menu above the Play button, select the Dragonflight beta (under In Development) and click Install.
- Once fully installed, click “Play” to log in to the PTR and select one of the available test servers.
- Create a new test character or use the “Copy Character” function to import an existing Shadowlands character.
- Enter the game and test the content.
