The Best Weapons in Apex Legends

When you land in , you can choose from a number of different weapons. But which weapon should you choose in the heat of the moment? To answer this question, we’ve put together a complete ranking of all the weapons in Apex Legends.

In Apex Legends, the weapons you find have a great impact on your performance, especially at the beginning of the game. But imagine you’re landing and you hear the enemy team nearby, and you open a crate where you find three different weapons. Which one do you take? What are the best weapons in Apex Legends? Find out in our complete weapon tier list.

Good to know: We didn’t include care package weapons like the G7 Scout, the Kraber, the Spitfire, or the Volt SMG because you won’t find them in every game and they are inherently god-like. On our ranking list you will only find the “normal” ground loot weapons.

What are the best weapons in Apex Legends?
S-Tier weapons in Apex Legends
These are the best weapons in Apex Legends and in most cases you should drop the weapon you are currently holding to choose one of these.

R-301 Carbine
First, the obvious: The R-301 is probably the best ground loot weapon in the game. Therefore, everyone from to pros will try to grab one as soon as they see it. In short, it’s the classic assault rifle that’s perfect for medium-range combat. And unlike many other weapons in Apex, it doesn’t have any weird effects, it’s just as awesome as you’d expect. We love the R-301, you love the R-301, now let’s move on to some more controversial weapons!

Peacekeeper
The Peacekeeper is perhaps the best option for close combat. Especially for certain legends, you should definitely have one of these in your back pocket. It works like a normal shotgun, except that you can create a tighter spread of pellets if you stay in ADS for a few seconds.

However, if you fire from the hip, you get a pretty wide spread of pellets. The only real “downside” to the Peacekeeper is that it can be inconsistent in damage, but for the vast majority of close range shots, it hits like a battering ram.

R-99 SMG
We just mentioned how solid the Peacekeeper is in close combat. If it has any rival at all, it’s the R-99. The R-99 is the best SMG in the game, and while it can’t deal as devastating a blow as the Peacekeeper, it’s definitely easier to use for most players.

It also combines wonderfully with the R-301, which is why some players affectionately refer to the combination of these two weapons as the R-400. When you pick up the R-99, our best tip is to look for an extended magazine as soon as possible, as this weapon has a high rate of fire and therefore burns up ammo very quickly.

Wingman
The S-Tier weapons mentioned so far are probably what most long-term Apex players have come to expect. But the Wingman might earn us some hate in the comments. The problem is how challenging the weapon is.

For pros, it’s undoubtedly an S-tier weapon and is used super frequently. But since it’s a single-shot weapon with low ammo, it doesn’t forgive misses and therefore we can’t recommend it for average experienced players without restrictions. Long story short: your shots with the Wingman have to be spot on, otherwise you might as well use a P2020.

A-Tier Weapons in Apex Legends
These weapons are perfect to use in the arena, but they aren’t quite as powerful as the S-Tier weapons.

Triple Take
The Triple Take is a fantastic ranged weapon that can do powerful damage and you can additionally use it in close combat, almost like a shotgun. However, for accurate shots you have to wait for the spread of the bullet to narrow and you can’t use sniper optics.

So it can’t be used much longer than medium range, but it’s still a great secondary weapon next to an R-301. Pro-tip: You can open fights very effectively with a triple-take headshot if the opponent hasn’t seen you, and then switch to a melee weapon to finish the job.

VK-47 Flatline
The Flatline is no longer available as a ground loot, but you can always craft it and buy it in arenas like normal weapons. The VK-47 isn’t necessarily the most accurate weapon, nor does it have the highest DPS, but it’s like the R-301 in the sense that it’s easy to use and will look very familiar to shooter fans.

So if you haven’t found any good weapons but see a crafting station nearby, just grab a VK-47 and you’ll be able to outperform most other weapons at medium ranges.

C.A.R. SMG
The C.A.R. SMG feels like “R-99 ordered from Wish”, and for that reason many people don’t like it. But on paper, it’s actually one of the most powerful SMGs in the game, and we can’t stress enough how useful the C.A.R.’s ability to use both light and heavy ammo is.

Apex Legends is stingier with ammo than most of the other BRs, so being able to use two types with this weapon is a fantastic advantage.

Mastiff Shotgun
Shotguns play a more important role in Apex Legends than in many other shooters, since the higher TTK allows fighters to get close to each other before one of them falls. And if you can’t find a Peacekeeper, use a Mastiff. This is a great shotgun with high penetrating power that is only slightly worse than the Peacekeeper thanks to the scattering pattern of the bullets.

LMG
I wanted to place the Rampage higher up. I swear, my dear noobs. But the Rampage is just too bad in the stats department to warrant a spot on the A-list, despite being the easiest weapon in the game.

The Rampage is an LMG that performs as you’d expect, though it can be loaded with thermite grenades to deal extra damage for a short time. And what makes it so nice, besides the large magazines, is its stability and control. But the gun’s inertia and fairly low DPS force us to put it at the top of the B-tier.

Hemlok Burst AR
Many players simply don’t like rapid-fire weapons. Not only in Apex, but in shooters in general, it just feels unnatural to many people. However, it would be very unfair if we didn’t give the Hemlok a place in the B-tier.

Its stats over medium range are pretty solid, there are a lot of good attachments you can use in combination with the Hemlok, and the single fire mode allows you to push it to even more imposing ranges.

So why only B? Because you’ll really suffer if someone gets too close while you’re using the Hemlok, and because there are a whole bunch of other weapons that can do the same thing as the Hemlok, only slightly better.

Charge Rifle
This next point is sure to divide opinion. PC gamers love the Charge Rifle, console gamers hate it. So we tried to be as diplomatic as possible and put it in the B level.

The rifle takes quite a long time to fire, and then it’s even slower at firing follow-up shots. But it does sustained damage and has excellent bullet speed. So if you can fire very accurate shots at long range, which is easier with the mouse, you should consider the rifle for your second slot.

Devotion LMG
The Devotion has a very strange firing mechanism. Basically, the rate of fire is very slow when you start firing, but as you continue to hold the trigger down, the rate of fire increases until it fires at an incredibly impressive rate. But who wants to start slow? The first few shots are always the most important.

And that weird fire characteristic of the Devotion is enough to put most people off. But we have to put it in the B-tier, because first, its stats (even when firing slowly) are impressive, and second, you can find a legendary hop-up attachment that completely negates the weird firing mechanism. Our advice is to ignore the devotion, but actively try to find one when you see this hop-up.

HAVOC Rifle
Similar to the Devotion, the HAVOC has a somewhat odd firing mechanism that puts most people off (hence why energy weapons are so unpopular). There is a delay between pulling the trigger and firing the HAVOC, as the cylindrical magazine has to spin first, just like a minigun.

But as with the Devotion, the HAVOC’s odd delay mechanic can be overridden if you find the right hop-up, but even without it, the delay isn’t as debilitating as it first sounds. And the stats are strong for close combat. Not as strong as the Peacekeeper/R-99, but good enough to outperform most other weapons when fighting indoors.

Prowler Burst PDW
The Prowler is probably the closest weapon to the C-tier, but it’s just good enough to qualify for the B-tier. It’s a short-range burst weapon, and that in itself is silly, because faster rates of fire will always be preferred in close combat.

But if you can keep firing your volleys, most people will be surprised at how fast the Prowler can strike in close combat. However, it drops worse than most weapons at range and has a very poor headshot multiplier.

C-Tier Weapons in Apex Legends.
Even if you have the best attachments in the game on these weapons, they can’t keep up with the better weapons and you should replace them. However, they are not quite among the lowest tier, as they can still bring kills in the immediate moments after landing.

Mozambique Shotgun
Ah, the old classic. This is a weapon that probably gets used more often than any other, simply because you’ll find so many of the damn things on the map. And, all kidding aside, because it’s fully automatic (although you can fire single shots much more effectively with it).

But why is it in C? Because it can only be used at close range, doesn’t do particularly impressive damage, and only has 6 rounds in the magazine. It escapes the D tier because it has great utility as a pocket shotgun, as a cheap secondary weapon to take people out, and for eco rounds in Arena (this weapon can be made there for free).

RE-45 Auto
The RE-45 can hold essays for you until you find the R-301. That’s it. Okay, that’s a bit harsh, it has other purposes too, but not many. It’s a low-powered pistol, but if you’ve just landed and there’s a hectic battle between multiple teams, the RE-45 is more effective than the D-tier weapons with its full auto mode. After the first fight, though, you should really only use it for holding attachments.

L-Star EMG
The L-Star draws ammo directly from inventory when firing, so you never have to reload, although the weapon will overheat if you fire on full auto. So you never really feel the benefit of the “infinite magazine”, and it’s basically just reloading with extra steps. That being said, the weapon is not useless and can keep up with average SMGs in close combat.

EVA-8 Auto
It could have been a brilliant weapon, as it is a fully automatic shotgun. However, the full auto function is so slow that the EVA-8 only feels as fast as a single shot gun fired by someone with a decent trigger finger.

And the damage and range are very low compared to other shotguns. It narrowly escapes the worst category of weapons because it is very useful in extreme close combat. Don’t panic, just hold the trigger down.

Alternator SMG
The Alternator serves the same purpose as the RE-45 and is about as good, so we’ve included it here in the C ranking. It can be fitted with attachments for an R-301, which can be found later in the game, and since it’s a kind of spray weapon, it’s useful when you pick it up after a very risky landing.

F-Tier Weapons In Apex Legends
These are the worst weapons in Apex Legends and you should loot and replace them before you venture anything, even if the game has just started. And of course, they should never be made in the arenas, even if they are cheap.

30-30 Repeater
The 30-30 is the poor man’s wingman. You have to hit its shots for it to be effective, but hitting the shots is even harder than with the Wingman thanks to the terrible bullet speed. Also, the 30-30 does significantly less damage to headshots.

So even if you’re a kickass skiller and can hit the shots, it really doesn’t make sense to choose the 30-30 over the Wingman. For anyone with only average skills, anything higher on this list is just more effective.

Bocek Compound Bow
Everyone knew the Bocek would end up at the bottom, right? Do we even need to explain it? It’s a bow in a gunfight. The “rate of fire” is pathetic compared to other weapons, you have to load up every shot to do any significant damage, and there is very little ammo given in the wild. To be honest, you should never use the Bocek unless you’re playing in a team with which you’ve achieved world domination in the arenas.

P2020
If you’ve ever played a shooter, then you know the P2020. This is the standard pistol. There’s nothing special about it, and there shouldn’t be. With a good trigger finger, you can use it to defeat people at close range if they are using one of the other F-Tier weapons or are unarmed, but otherwise you will be outgunned.

Sentinel
The placement of the Sentinel on this list is easily explained. It does too little damage, considering the compromises you have to make in terms of mobility, ammo capacity, and rate of fire. It has all the bad qualities of a Sniper, but none of the good, damage-dealing qualities. And if you’re going for it in close combat, even someone with the aforementioned P2020 is faster than you.

Longbow DMR
Similar to the Flatline, the Longbow DMR can now only be crafted and is no longer available as loot on the ground. Like the Sentinel, it simply doesn’t provide enough damage to justify its use when you can have a better equipped weapon instead. And let’s not even get started on how bad the bullet drop is at long ranges.

What is the best weapon in Apex in 2022?
The R-301 is the best weapon in Apex Legends (if you exclude care package weapons), because it has the best balance of damage and control for the kind of range most Apex fights take place in. It doesn’t have the highest DPS in the game, though; that would technically be the Devotion.

What is the hardest handling weapon in Apex Legends?
The most difficult weapon in Apex Legends is the Wingman, since it’s a single-shot weapon with small magazines and strong recoil. It’s a fantastic weapon, and there’s a reason why so many professionals use it, but you really need to hit your shots for it to be effective. You might as well use a P2020 if you can’t aim that accurately.

Now we’re at the end of our complete ranking of all the weapons in Apex Legends. We hope you found it helpful, and if not, at least entertaining. And now that you know the best weapons, you know what to spend your precious Apex coins on!

What is actually… “Apex Legends?

Within 24 hours, “Apex Legends” became the most-watched game on Twitch – after one week, over 25 million people were already playing it. What is the shooter about?

What is “Apex Legends” about?

Scenario: In a distant future, bandits, adventurers, and outlaws settle their disputes in a sporting contest to the death. The setting is a fertile, industrially developed valley on the edge of the galaxy.

  • Genre: Battle Royale shooter
  • Game modes: survival battle between a maximum of 20 teams of three.

At its core, “Apex Legends” is a classic battle-royale shooter: up to 60 players land simultaneously in teams of three on the game map called “Kings Canyon” – a densely built-up, fertile valley with many accessible houses, bunkers and towers. Once on the ground, unarmed players must search their surroundings for equipment and ammunition. The goal of the game is to stay alive until the end.

To prevent players from hiding all over the map and waiting to automatically be the last one left, the game area shrinks every few minutes. The longer a round lasts, the smaller the area where survivors can move and hide.

Apex Legends refreshes this now classic game formula with some ideas that are unique to the genre: For example, before starting a round, players select one of eight heroes, each of which has two special abilities and facilitates certain play styles.

Bangalore, for example, is the classic soldier who can conceal her position with smoke grenades and call in an artillery strike in an emergency. The heroine Lifeline, on the other hand, can summon a drone to heal teammates – or directly order the delivery of high-value weapons and equipment via aerial drone. This way, all players can find the right hero for their preferred course of action.

How can I play Apex Legends?

Platform: “Apex Legends” is available for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Price: The battle royale shooter is a “Free to Play” title and can basically be played for free on all platforms.

In-game purchases: “Apex Legends” allows the purchase of cosmetic items and new heroes either by means of in-game currency, which can be earned for free in every round, or with real money. The real-money currency “Apex Coins” can be purchased in five different amounts: The smallest possible amount is 1000 Apex Points for around 9.99 euros, while the largest pack with 10,000 Apex Points content costs 99.99 euros.

The developer emphasizes that it is not possible to buy game advantages with the help of real money: You can only use it to customize the appearance of the heroes, it says, or purchase new heroes.

Age rating: “Apex Legends” does not have a youth rating (USK 18).

Which technical terms should you know?

Respawn Beacon: If a player is shot down, the team members who are still alive have the opportunity to bring the fallen comrade back into the game: Each eliminated player leaves behind a so-called Respawn Banner, which can be collected by the players of the own team and handed in at one of 28 Respawn Beacons, certain locations on the map. If this succeeds, the fallen player returns to the game.

Jumpmaster: At the beginning of the game, one of the maximum three players of a team always takes on the role of the jumpmaster. He decides when and where his team enters the game area.

Ping: Using the middle mouse button, players can alert their teammates to interesting locations in the game world or enemies. These pings are a valuable tool for communicating quickly and efficiently within the team.
