Apex Legends

What makes the game special? Apex Legends is the fastest battle royale shooter currently on the market – and one of the most popular. Although the time-to-kill (TTK) is significantly higher than in comparable games, the movement is all the faster for it.

This high speed is also due to the many characters in the game that you can play. Like in a hero shooter or MOBA, you choose one of many legends, each with their own abilities that allow for a special play style.

What are the game modes? The core of Apex Legends is the Battle Royale. On one of currently 4 huge maps, a total of 60 players fight against each other in teams of 2 or 3. The loot is always randomly distributed on the map and the playable parts of the map become smaller and smaller over time. The last player to survive wins the match.

The Arena mode, which is an alternative to Battle Royale, has also been around for a few months. In it, Apex Legends tries its hand at a unique mix of arena and tactical shooter. In arenas, teams of 3 fight against each other in rounds. At the start of each round, you’ll have to buy weapons, attachments, and equipment like grenades or skill inserts. Whoever has a 2 round lead first wins the match.

Both Battle Royale and Arenas can be played casually or in a ranked mode.

Who should take a closer look at the game? Even if you’re not really into Battle Royale gameplay, gamers who want a fast-paced gameplay and a lot of mechanical depth in their shooters should definitely give Apex Legends a try. The gunplay is also excellent, as the weapons have very different handling. On top of that, they sound fantastic and give very satisfying feedback with every shot.

The game has a very high skill keiling. You have to invest a lot of time and patience to play it at the absolute top level. While this can be daunting, it is also a huge motivating factor. In addition, regular and large updates provide enough content and variety.

Call of Duty: Vanguard – recommendation with reservation

What makes the game special? Call of Duty: Vanguard is the latest installment in the annual shooter series. In this game, players are once again transported to the Second World War – but Vanguard also returns to the beginnings of CoD games in other ways.

MyMMO author Maik Schneider wrote shortly after release that Vanguard was finally a “real” CoD again, and therefore immediately excited him. Among other things, this was due to the fast battles, many good maps and, as he wrote, “an awesome feeling when knocking down the enemies”.

The TTK in Vanguard is almost indescribably fast – this makes coordinated team play very difficult, but it quickly transports players into an almost trance-like frenzy. The vast amount of weapons in the game do the rest to provide a lot of fun.

But beware: Currently, the game is in a state that is very problematic. Anyone who is bothered by this should avoid the game (for now).

What are the game modes? CoD Vanguard is divided into a solo campaign, the multiplayer mode and the cooperative wave mode Zombies.

However, the focus is clearly on the multiplayer area: classics like Team Deathmatch, Domination or Search & Destroy are joined by innovations like Patrol or the turn-based team mode Champion Hill.

Who should take a closer look at the game? CoD Vanguard appeals especially to players who like arcadey and insanely fast-paced shooter action. There’s hardly a quiet minute in Call of Duty – a fast TTK combined with quick respawns keep you in a frenzy of fire volleys and explosions almost non-stop.

While the World War II setting isn’t for everyone, the weapons don’t play a bit stale. The extensive attachment system also makes sure of that. With up to 10 attachments on each weapon, you can build an almost infinite number of weapon setups. So everyone will find something that suits their own play style.

Call of Duty: Warzone

What makes the game special? Unlike other Battle Royales, CoD Warzone lets you use your own loadouts. This way, you can always fall back on your favorite weapons and aren’t as dependent on the game’s loot whims. Also special is the Gulag: there you fight for your life in a 1vs1 duel after your first death in a match. If you win, you’ll come back into the game under your own power.

What are the game modes? Aside from – Season al and otherwise time-limited events, the core of the Warzone experience consists of two game modes. One is the classic Battle Royale with the special features described above.

The other game mode is called Loot Money (English: Plunder) and is a more action-packed version of BR: here it’s not about survival, because you can respawn here infinitely. Instead, you have to collect as much cash as possible and keep it until the end of the round. Because whoever kills you can take your money – provided you haven’t already deposited it.

Who should take a closer look at the game? If you like the fast-paced gameplay of Call of Duty, you should try Warzone. Because here you’ll have a battle royale experience garnished with innovative mechanics and typical CoD gunplay with a myriad of weapons and possible loadouts.
