Talent tree brings damage abilities for dragon

The new alpha build for WoW: Dragonflight has, among other things, brought the (almost) complete dragon riding talent tree to the test servers. There was one surprise in particular. With the right talent you can get an advantage in battle with your dragon.

Dragonflight is slowly but surely becoming more than just an insider tip for the upcoming expansion, but one of the core features of WoW: Dragonflight. The response to the new way of flying is positive across the board and only rarely do we hear quiet criticism of it. In order to keep players busy for a long time, the developers have given the feature its own talent tree, which you can use to improve your dragons.

After in this was already available for some time in the alpha, but largely filled with placeholder talents, a complete and perhaps final version of the dragon riding talent tree has now been implemented. In it, there are a total of 15 different perks that can be used to improve dragon riding. One talent is particularly interesting. You can now use your dragon to open combat by slamming into a group of enemies at high speed and stunning them in the process!

The following talents are currently in the alpha of WoW: Dragonflight implemented for dragon riding:

  • Row 1
  • Series 2
    • Training for kites and riders: Your élan is increased to 4.
    • Dynamic stretching: Regeneration on the ground is increased to 1 Elan per 25 seconds.
    • Thrill Hunter: Thrill of the Skies generates 1 Elan per 10 seconds.
  • Row 3
    • Ohn’ahra’s gusts of wind: Forward thrust escapes scalechillers, scalechargers, and other obstacles in the various dragon races.
  • Series 4
    • You must choose one of the following talents:
      • Dragonrider’s Initiative: At medium and high speeds, you gain a stack of Dragonrider’s Initiative. Landing at medium or high speed creates a shockwave that deals damage per stack to surrounding enemies and disorients them for three seconds.
      • Dragonrider’s Compassion: While flying, you gain up to ten stacks of Dragonrider’s Compassion. When you descend, you gain one percent of your maximum health as a shield and one percent movement speed for each stack for 30 seconds.
  • Series 5
    • Restful travel: Regeneration on the ground is increased to 1 Elan per 20 seconds.
  • Row 6
    • Airborne Tumbling: Whirling rush escapes wingshredders and knocks enemy players off their flying mount.
  • Row 7
    • You must choose one of the following talents:
      • Dragonrider’s Cultivation: Gathering herbs or ores increases your Elan’s regeneration rate by ten percent for ten seconds.
      • Dragonrider’s Hunt: Defeating an enemy increases your Elan’s regeneration rate by ten percent for three seconds. Can only occur once every 30 seconds.
  • Row 8
    • Dragon riding student: Your vigor is increased to 5.
  • Row 9
    • Beyond infinity: Your vigor is increased to 6.
    • Longing for the sky: Regeneration on the ground is increased to 1 Elan per 15 seconds.
    • At home at altitude: Thrill of the Skies generates 1 Elan per 5 seconds.

How do you like the developers’ idea of being able to use your dragon to at least open combat by slamming directly into enemies? Do you see this as a positive, or do you dislike the fact that you will soon be stunned by kamikaze dragons in open PvP while the rider slaughters you?
