Just the other day reported we reported that the progress update for Rocket League will be released as early as next week, on August 29 to be exact. One of the new features that will be added to the game with the update is the club function. This feature will allow you to be in a club with up to 20 people and also play together or against each other in it. In the linked report, we mentioned that Psyonix still plans to release more info and that’s exactly what they did. Of course, we don’t want to withhold anything from you, which is why we’re going to go over the information together now.
Now, as you should already know, you can either create your own clubs, or join a friend’s. To create a completely new club, go to the “Play” menu and select “Create Club.” Once you’ve done that, you can choose the name, tag, primary color set, and secondary color set. Once the club is created, you can do the following things:
- Invite new members
- Set club notifications
- Change club colors
- Change the club name and club tag
- Dissolve the club
- Create private matches
- Join Private Matches
Would you and your friends like to play a round? No problem at all! The conditions to search a game will not change, also the groups will not change. However, if all the players are in the same club, you will only meet opponents who are also all in the same club, this is called Club Match. In this mode, all the colors in the stadium will be changed to the primary color of the club and the team names will be updated to match the names of the corresponding club. In case the primary team colors should be too similar, one team at a time will play with the secondary or an unrelated color.
But how does owning a club actually work? Well, if a club owner decides to leave or resign from his position, only he will be able to determine the next club owner. Furthermore, a Club Owner must resign before leaving the Club. Logically, otherwise the club will not have a new owner.
If you want to join a club instead of creating it yourself, the club owner is the only one who is able to invite you. So to get an invitation, you should contact the club owner somehow. If you receive an invitation, it will be displayed via pop-up notification.
If you want to play some matches online as usual, you still need to create a group. Only the group leader will still be able to choose which modes you play, even if the club owner is there. Of course, you will also be able to play online without your club. At the current time, Psyonix does not compile statistics regarding the clubs. Accordingly, shots on goal, saves, wins and losses have no effect on the club.
Every Rocket League owner will be able to create a club and join one. Verified clubs will only be granted to notable influencers, eSports organizations, and special community members. These special community members, as well as influencers, will be notified by Psyonix in the coming week and who knows, maybe you’ll be one of them!
Last but not least, Psyonix has published a small FAQ in which quite important questions are answered. We’ll go through this FAQ as well. Note that the questions are written in underlined font and the answers in normal font.
Can I be in more than one club at the same time?
No, each player can only be in one club.
I don’t want to own my club anymore, what should I do?
No problem at all! You simply transfer the rights of the club owner to another player by using the transfer option within the club screen.
What happens if I change the name or tag of my verified club?
If the name or tag of a verified club is changed, the club loses its verification.
Where can club matches take place?
Club matches can take place during a normal online match. However, they do not take place in private matches.
I like the original arena colors, do I have the option to turn off the club colors in the club match?
Yes! In the settings you have the possibility to disable the club colors during a club match.
Do clubs support crossplay?
Clubs do support cross-platform membership! However, you will not be able to invite players who play on another platform until the RocketID system planned for this year is released.
