Survey could point to expensive premium skins

As is well known, Blizzard Entertainment decided to rely on the Free2Play model for the upcoming multiplayer shooter “Overwatch 2”. As a current survey is supposed to indicate, skins and similar cosmetic content could be waiting in the in-game store, the prices of which will definitely cause discussions.Currently, the developers of Blizzard Entertainment are preparing for the Early Access launch of the multiplayer shooter “Overwatch 2” in October this year.

As confirmed a while ago, Blizzard Entertainment will not only rely on the Free2Play model for “Overwatch 2”. In addition, the loot boxes will be removed from the game. In order to finance the further development of the successor or the work on new content, Blizzard Entertainment wants to rely on Battle Passes and cosmetic content like skins, among other things. However, a current survey could suggest that the prices of particularly rare skins after “Diablo Immortal” pave the way for the next PR debacle.

Prices of up to 45 US dollars?

Snapshots that are supposed to come from an official poll for “Overwatch 2” have surfaced on Twitter. Here, for example, the question is asked how likely it would be that the players would buy a legendary skin for 24.99 US dollars or even a mythic skin for 44.99 US dollars.

Also mentioned are bundles such as three sprays for $4.99, an emote, highlight intro, and souvenir for $19.99, or a bundle that includes a Legendary skin, tag, player icon, victory pose, voice sample, name card, and spray for $29.99.

However, it should be noted that an official statement from Blizzard Entertainment is still pending. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether skins and other content will indeed be offered at the prices mentioned in the in-game store of “Overwatch 2”. The Early Access phase of the new multiplayer shooter will start on October 4, 2022.

Update: As a Blizzard Entertainment spokesperson noted, the survey is not indicative of the final prices of the cosmetic items.

“This survey is solely intended to better understand player preferences for different types of cosmetic content on Overwatch 2. The prices displayed in the survey were randomized per user and are not indicative of final prices. We plan to release details on our store and Battle Pass system closer to our launch on October 4.” states.

What these statements mean for the final prices of in-game purchases remains to be seen.Oof, friend of mine got an Overwatch survey for his account, some of these prices they’re gauging for OW2 are really expensive.I hope this is just him getting one of the higher price surveys and not an indication that they’re leaning towards this much monetization. pic.twitter.com/RWr7LbwkLB  – Portergauge
