Surprisingly nice PvP visit to Elden Ring ends with a thank you letter for the attacker

’s multiplayer is always good for surprising encounters, both in co-op and PvP. Such was the case of a couple who wanted to complete a dungeon together. They were visited by a supposed PvP enemy, but the meeting went quite differently than usual.

In Elden Ring, players can either target, or randomly face off against others in-game. You can invade and attack other players’ game worlds as an invader.

This has also happened to the user The Critical Gamer. However, he describes an encounter that turns out differently than one would expect.

Because instead of attacking, the intruder behaved unusually peacefully. In fact, the encounter was so friendly that the user wrote a thank-you note on reddit.

If you want to know how exactly co-op and PvP work, you can read about it in our to Elden Ring multiplayer.

“You’re living rent-free in my head now.”

What exactly happened there? According to The Critical Gamer, he was completing a dungeon in co-op with his girlfriend.

Eventually, they received a visit from the intruder. However, they quickly noticed that something was strange. Instead of attacking as usual, the PvP player was acting suspiciously quiet.

First, they engaged in a sort of staring contest for 10 minutes:

You ambushed me and my girlfriend while we were walking a dungeon. When we tried to trap you, you made the casual greeting gesture for 10 minutes until I finally gave in and came out to follow you.

The experienced Souls player knows: 99 times out of 100, this would be a troll attempt. But not in this case.

According to the player, the PvP player not only didn’t launch a single attack, but instead helped the couple through the dungeon, all the way to the boss door.

The player himself was so surprised by the action that he probably couldn’t get it out of his head:

You then led us through the entire dungeon, solved all the , took us to the boss entrance, and then left. I was so stunned that I couldn’t think of anything else for the rest of the day.

Further, he wishes the player well, “If you’re out there, good luck to you, you glorious bastard. You’re living rent-free in my head now.”

This encounter seems to have left a lasting impression, according to the user.

In the comments, players report similar experiences. While 90% of PvP invaders are hostile and often use nasty tactics, there are always players who stand out from the crowd.

This is also where the best part of multiplayer in games like Elden Ring comes out for many. Each encounter is unique and things can happen that you don’t expect.

In the eyes of the players, this is a great unique selling point compared to many other multiplayer games that always follow the same pattern.

But how do you guys see it? Have you had such interesting encounters in Elden Ring’s multiplayer? Or do you avoid the online mode? Are you perhaps one of those invaders who like to behave unpredictably?
