Starcraft Units – Phase Glider

Phase Glider

PHASE GLIDER DESCRIPTION

The reunion of the Aiur protoss and the dark templar was a difficult time for both sides. Overcoming centuries of fear and mistrust that had built up after the exile of the dark templar was no easy task. The unification of technologies that had developed in separate ways over such a long time nevertheless led to sensational new developments among the protoss. One such creation is the Phasespeeder, a new capital ship that many believe may eventually replace the veteran Protoss carriers as flagships in the Protoss fleet.

The Phase Glider is a ship constructed essentially around a single gigantic power source: the Prism Core. The energy of two planes of existence pulsates in this unity. The Void, which only the Dark Templar fully understand, and the Psi-Matrix, which forms the technological basis of the Aiur Protoss. Combining these energies creates a self-regenerating reaction with fearsome potential.

Normally the prism core of flux field projectors is kept in check. Once the phase glider has fixed a target, the arms of the projectors open like the leaves of a flower. A complex array of warp lenses and phase crystals focus the Prism Core’s energies in an all-consuming beam of destruction.

While the prism beam stays focused on its target, other parts of the sighting device still align and up to three individual energy beams can be combined. The intensity and power of the beam increases exponentially over the course of just a few seconds. Few opponents can withstand the immense power of the prism beam for long: even large and heavily armored targets such as buildings or heavy cruisers are reduced to ashes in no time at all.

PROTOSS

General Information

With their advanced technologies, the Protoss manage to spread fear and terror throughout the universe. A variety of different combat robots, as well as some specially trained fighters who possess psi powers, are available to the Protoss in their battles against other forces. However, these also have their price, the of fighters and upgrading with robots, not only devours vast amounts of resources, but also costs a lot of time.

The Protoss are considered the oldest and most developed race, but their old culture also has disadvantages. The Protoss naturally see themselves as autocrats and do not adapt to the new dangers, they remain in their rigid caste system and preserve the strict hierarchy in their culture at all costs.
