StarCraft Remastered: Is the upgrade worth it? HD remaster now available

Nearly 20 years after the release of the classic strategy game , Blizzard is releasing an HD remaster. StarCraft Remastered is now available for PC and should entice you to buy it with a crisp resolution. Is the upgrade worth it? Judge for yourself by comparing the graphics of both versions in the video.

StarCraft is one of the most influential strategy games of all time. Since 1998, fans have been tacting with the three familiar races: Humans, Protoss and Zerg. The strategy game has also been a staple in eSports. Professional players pushed the level of play to unimaginable heights in tournaments, and fans around the world feverishly followed along with their idols in live streams.

Now Blizzard has released an HD remaster. It is called “StarCraft: Remastered” and is available on Battle.net. In addition to a crisper look, this version offers you reworked dialogs and sound.

StarCraft Remastered costs 15 Euros and you need the normal StarCraft to play the HD remaster. Blizzard now offers this for free. It is better to download StarCraft with Brood War beforehand.

Furthermore, the developers have fixed several bugs. These include various graphics glitches, for example with Kerrigan’s face in the loading screen. There should still be fewer problems finding games on the local network.

However, there is a problem that the developers point out. According to them, the profile area is not available. Whether Blizzard will fix this in the future is rather questionable. Especially since StarCraft Remastered, the original game with a nicer look, will be released in summer 2017.

With all the focus on the old StarCraft you should not forget: There is still the successor StarCraft 2, for which all expansions have been released in the meantime.
