StarCraft 2: Final phase before the start

Some of the strongest “” players in the world are currently gathering in Utrecht, the Netherlands. At the headquarters of Team Liquid, one of the best-known eSports organizations on this planet, the final phase of the TSL will begin on September 2, 2022. .

The first part of the tournament took place online and thinned out the field of participants. The dozen professionals who successfully survived this process may now compete on site for the crown as well as a winner’s purse filled with around 14,000 euros.

TSL 9 – what happened so far

In the eternal duel of the “StarCraft 2” scene between South Korea and the rest of the world, the non-Korean professionals have had the upper hand so far. In the upper bracket, four players from Europe are in the semifinals. Particularly pleasing from a German perspective: Tobias “ShoWTimE” Sieber and Julian “Lambo” Brosig will play each other in one of the semifinal matches.

“Lambo” benefited from the last-minute departure of Chinese Li “TIME” Peinan, who had to cancel his participation due to visa difficulties – “Lambo” lost to his colleague in the previous round. Another German player, Gabriel “HeroMarine” Segat, benefited from the same cancellation, as he replaced “TIME” in the lower bracket, thus getting a second chance for a higher ranking after his actual elimination.

While World Champion Joona “Serral” Sotala and his archrival, Vice World Champion Riccardo “Reynor” Romiti, face each other in the other Upper Bracket semifinal, “HeroMarine” is the only player in the Lower Bracket who is not from South Korea – an exciting scenario is brewing.

In the Lower Bracket, the winner of the rematch of the recent South Korean GSL final between “herO” and “Maru” should enter the race as the favorite for a spot in the Grand Final and as a generally strong candidate for victory.

The German pros are definitely to be considered underdogs in the title race, but at least “Lambo” or “ShoWTimE” are already set for a spot on the podium – a really good result for both.
