After the surprising mega-deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, one of the questions that has arisen is the future of shooter series Call of Duty put. While it is now clear that at least three more games from the brand will also appear on the PlayStation. But what does it look like for the further future? An Xbox exclusivity cannot be completely ruled out, at least. Possibly Sony is therefore tinkering on its own “Call of Duty.
Sony’s own “Call of Duty” for the PS5?
A recent tweet from the well-known industry insider and leaker “Shinobi602” triggered speculation. He referred to a report from the developer studio, which was only founded last year. Deviation Games, which operates under the banner of Sony.
The studio is looking to expand further, opening a new branch in Canada. The team is currently working on a “groundbreaking” new brand for the PlayStation. If one takes a closer look at the personnel of Deviation Games, the assumption is that the previously secret project could be a first-person shooter.
After all, the studio was founded by Jason Blundell, who spent many years in a leading position at Treyarch, where he worked on many Call of Duty games.
This also applies to his colleague and co-founder Dave Anthony. It can therefore not be ruled out that at Deviation Games currently actually. a new big shooter brand is emerging, which could appear exclusively for the PS5 in the future and be built up as a direct competitor to Call of Duty.

The Deviation Games development studio was founded in the middle of the Corona pandemic and is based in Los Angeles, California. In addition to founders Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony, many other veterans of the gaming industry work on the still fairly young team, which has a lot of experience in the shooter genre in particular. In June 2021, Deviation Games announced a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment about a future cooperation.
