About Dota2

Dota 2 is – unlike other big titles like – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.

Heroes (Dota 2)

The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.

Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.

HOW TO PLAY DOTA 2; THE BEGINNERS GUIDE

Here's what you need to know if you're new to Dota 2.

Dota 2 is one of the most popular MOBA games ever. Although it has not been available for many years, millions of people from all over the world use it on a daily basis. However, learning how to play Dota 2 is not as easy as it seems. This is especially true if you have never played the game before. For this reason, we decided to create this guide. Hopefully it will help people who are taking their first Dota 2 steps. Without further ado, here's what you need to know to start playing.

LEARN THE OBJECT OF THE GAME!

After you've created your Steam account and downloaded the game, it's time to learn a little bit about it. Although it may seem simple at first, Dota 2 is a very complex game.

The first thing you need to wrap your head around is; What is the purpose of the game. As with any other MOBA, the idea behind Dota 2 is to destroy the "old" of the enemy team. To do this, you'll be placed in a team with four other players and will have to fight against five opponents.

Once the game starts, you'll have a few seconds to choose your hero. This hero will be your character in the game, which you'll have to improve and get items to be effective.

Once the selection phase is over, you'll take full control of your hero. Speaking of heroes, there are two main roles in this game; "Core" and "Support". Normally, each game has three cores and two supports. However, this can change depending on the patch, the players, and what is popular in the current meta.

When you choose a "core", your task is to get as much gold as possible so that you can buy some items. Once you do this, you'll have to use your abilities and items to fight the enemies.

On the other hand, if you decide to support, you'll have to help your team. Most new Dota 2 players start playing the game as support, as the role is not that demanding. Don't get this wrong - it's really difficult to be a good support. But it is an easier role if you are still learning about the game when you are new.

After choosing a specific hero, the next thing you need to do is buy the right items. However, this is easier said than done, Dota 2 has hundreds of items. Some of them are only good early on, while others are useful in later stages of the game. Fortunately, there are many in-game guides you can follow that will tell you what kind of items you should get for your hero.

To buy these items, you need to get gold. This is the main resource used in Dota 2, and you can get it from multiple sources. Apart from killing enemy heroes, you'll get gold to kill creeps, destroy towers, sell items (although you'll only get half of their value) and earn it passively every second.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN ATTRIBUTES?

After you've chosen a hero and have a general idea of what you need to do, it's time to look at some details. First, let's go over the attributes.

Dota 2 has three main stats - strength, agility and intelligence. Each hero has a primary attribute, which means that every point you enter will give them additional damage.

Strength gives you health as well as health regeneration. The interesting thing is that most players tend to get Strength, even if their hero's primary attribute is different. After all, you need HP to survive.

Agility gives heroes attack speed and armor. This is the main attribute used by most physical damage bearers (core heroes).

Intelligence provides mana as well as mana regeneration for each hero. This is another attribute that some heroes buy, even if their main attribute is Strength or Agility.

To be successful, you need to find the right combination of these attributes. Unfortunately, every game is different, so you'll have to adjust if you want to be effective. For example, sometimes you'll have to use a lot of strength to survive.

SKILLS - AND WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THEM

The next thing we want to talk about here is your abilities. Every hero in Dota 2 has at least four abilities (some have even more). We can divide them into two major groups - active and passive.

The active spells are the ones that you can use whenever you want, either by pressing on them with the mouse (not recommended). Or using the keyboard shortcut (preferable). On the other hand, passive abilities don't require you to use anything. Instead, they usually give you a certain percentage chance of something happening. For example, Juggernaut has a passive ability called "Blade Dance" that gives the hero a 35% chance of a critical strike.

Another interesting thing about the abilities in this game is that you can improve them. Every single spell, apart from the ultimate one, can be leveled up four times. However, if you want to do this, you'll have to gain experience, which you'll get by killing creeps or heroes.

Once you reach level XNUMX, you'll have the option to improve your ultimate. In most cases, this is the most dangerous spell that a specific hero has to offer. Although there are exceptions to this, depending on how you built your hero.

RANKING UP

If you want to get good at this game, you need to play it as often as possible. After reading this Dota 2 Beginner's Guide, make sure you play at least a few games a day until you feel confident enough that you know what you're doing. Read the patch notes and read the specific guides for your favorite heroes. It won't be easy, but once you learn the ins and outs of Dota 2, you'll realize that it's one of the best games in the world.
