Rainbow Six: Siege has been on the market since 2015. After 7 years, it finally gets a game mode today that fans have been asking for since day 1. It is one of the oldest and most common game modes in shooters. My MMO tells you more.
The tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege is still very popular 7 years after its release. On Steam alone, nearly 80,000 players regularly play the shooter. But since day 1, fans have been clamoring for one of the most common shooter game modes ever: Team Deathmatch.
With the unveiling of – Season 1 in Year 7, Ubisoft has finally granted fans this eternal wish: Starting today, you can finally play Team Deathmatch in Rainbow Six: Siege on test servers. And that’s forever, even after the proper release of the latest – Season in probably about 2 weeks.
Rainbow Six: Siege brings Team Deathmatch with Year 7 – Season 1
Because Rainbow Six: Siege has been running for so long, they are additionally dividing the – Season s into years. In the official introduction trailer of Year 7 – Season 1, numerous things were introduced. Some of them fans of the tactical shooter have come to expect, while others have been long requested. Among them are:
- A new character, the Japanese defender Azami.
- A new map, a castle in Ireland, coming mid– Season
- Attackers may reconsider their character choice in the preparation phase
- All operators have access to all 1x targeting devices
- Numerous balancing adjustments
But a new feature is making even players who haven’t played Rainbow Six: Siege in a long time sit up and take notice: The popular Team Deatchmatch game mode is finally coming to the tactical shooter after 7 years. This fulfills a fan demand that has been there since release.
With Year 7 – Season 1 launching today on test servers, players in Rainbow Six: Siege can finally let loose in Team Deathmatch. This mode will remain as soon as the – Season is released properly – expected in about 2 weeks.
The mode was already available to play on test servers last – Season , and now it’s officially in the game. And it will be forever.
Team Deathmatch puts the spotlight on Rainbow Six: Siege’s gunplay.
Why do fans want Team Deathmatch?
The gunplay in Rainbow Six: Siege has been praised often and much for years, but newcomers and returnees in particular have a difficult time with the game. And the problem is getting worse:
After 7 years of updates with new maps, characters, gadgets and weapons, the already complex tactical shooter became harder and harder to figure out – especially for players who rarely play it or are completely new.
This popular shooter doesn’t need a successor
Because you die quickly in Rainbow Six: Siege and the weapons aren’t easy to use, frustrating deaths happen. Since there are no quick respawns in this tactical shooter, you’ll often spend more time watching your teammates instead of playing yourself.
Because you don’t necessarily shoot better from watching, Rainbow Six: Siege quickly becomes frustrating. The “Team Deathmatch” mode should help here:
Thanks to fast-paced action with quick respawns, you can enjoy the gunplay of the tactical shooter in a game mode that punishes deaths less drastically. This also helps you learn the characters, maps and weapons in a less sweaty environment.
What do the fans say?
As expected, fans are very happy about the new game mode. However, they also see it as an addition to the main game, not a replacement.
- For example, Deltronium says on reddit, “Team Deathmatch. This was so badly needed.”
- johnyF01 thinks this game mode is “a good way to relieve some stress from the main game.”
- For RS_Superior, TDM is a good innovation. For him, it’s “just a quick, easy-to-learn game mode to practice aiming and prepare for some full games.”
Other updates for Team Deathmatch are also expected to be released. Ubisoft promises in the video, for example, new maps and further improvements to the spawn system, which was still under criticism in the test phase of the last – Season .
Team Deathmatch isn’t the only way for fans of Rainbow Six to play gunplay and characters at a slightly different pace. The co-op spin-off game Rainbow Six: Extraction has also been out since 2022, and is surprisingly delighting players:
Rainbow Six: Extraction isn’t really anything special, but fans see potential: “Ubisoft, don’t waste this!”
