Setup guide for FIFA 22 on PS5: Turn off the adaptive triggers

If you have a PlayStation 5 and want to play 22 on it, you should adjust some settings on the console. Find out the best way to play FIFA on the PS5 here.

The PlayStation5 from Sony comes with some great new features. However, not all of them are necessarily advantageous for FIFA. We’ll show you how to set up the PS5 so that you can play FIFA 22.

The adaptive triggers, i.e. the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons, are particularly annoying. You want to sprint and press R2 – but it can’t be pressed in? We’ll tell you how you can turn that off.

FIFA 22: Switch off adaptive trigger

You won’t find the settings for this in the FIFA menu, but in the main menu of your PlayStation 5. To turn off the annoying adaptive triggers, simply start your PS5 and wait until you are in the start menu. If your console is already running, no problem. You don’t have to restart.

All leagues in FIFA 22 at a glance

Tap the PlayStation button in the middle of your controller. Scroll right in the menu to “Accessories” (the controller sign). Here you tap X twice and select “Controller Settings”.

Select “Trigger Effect Intensity” and set it to off (or weak, but trust us, all off is best for FIFA). Now you have the adaptive triggers turned off.

Additional tip: Also turn down the vibration intensity and the brightness of the controller. This saves battery and you can play longer without having to constantly charge.

FIFA 22 on PS5: This is the best setting

Maybe all the vibrating in the controller is quite nice for the few rounds of kick-off or career mode. But at the latest when you want to play online and sweat in the Weekend or the Champions Finals, the blinking of the controller will be a pain in the… balls. So again step by step:

Tap the PS button in the middle of your controller.
Select “Accessories” in the menu bar
Click through to “Controller Settings
Set the trigger effect to off
Additionally set vibration intensity to “Weak” or “Off

Congratulations! You have now made the best setting on your PlayStation5 for FIFA 22. Have fun dismantling your competitors.
