The Rocket League World Championship will be streamed live in Fortnite. During this special event, players can complete missions and earn cosmetics. Fortnite and Rocket League connect during Rocket League Live, with special quests and cosmetic rewards for Fortnite players who log in to watch the ongoing Rocket League World Championship live in-game. Between August 9 and 14, players can tune in via Fortnite to watch the matches live on the big screen. During breaks in the game, missions can be completed to receive exclusive, limited-time cosmetic rewards.
To gain access to the Rocket League event and complete the challenges, you must first log into the special Rocket League Live Island, a custom Fortnite level designed by content creator walnutx404. The Rocket League Live Island is currently displayed under the “Discover” tab of Fortnite Battle Royale and can be easily found and selected from there. If this does not work, the island can also be accessed by entering a code. To do this, Fortnite’s game mode must be selected and the code 8205-6994-2065 must be entered under the “Island Code” tab.
Rocket League Live is just one of the many events in Fortnite’s long and storied history. Once you successfully join a Rocket League Live match, you will be presented with a blue and orange portal and asked to choose whether you want to support the blue or orange team in an upcoming match. Every time a selected team scores a goal, the team will receive power-ups in Fortnite. Also, players who choose to support the winning team will receive upgraded weapons in the next stage: Team Rumble, where all event challenges can be completed.
The Rocket League Live tasks and rewards in Fortnite.
Team Rumble is essentially a team deathmatch where two teams compete and take each other out. While it’s nice to get upgraded weapons by supporting a winning team, this doesn’t have a significant impact on your chances of taking out your opponents. Also, the four missions you can complete are pleasantly simple, and unlike some of the more unusual missions in Fortnite, you don’t really have to work hard to complete them:
- Deal 250 Damage To Opponents at the RL Live Deathmatch.
- Deal 1500 Damage To Opponents at the RL Live Deathmatch (Deal 1500 damage to opponents in RL Live Deathmatch)
- Eliminate 3 Opponents at the RL Live Deathmatch
- Eliminate 7 Opponents at the RL Live Deathmatch[19659012)
The event has a small catch: at the moment, the corresponding orders seem to be buggy and require players to deal damage to opponents twice and eliminate an opponent twice. This would arguably make them the easiest Fortnite quests ever, but players will have to complete the challenges listed above, as Fortnite’s official Twitter account has confirmed the correct values. Normally, Fortnite players can bounce around without any issues, so this is a bit of an odd mistake. There are also cosmetics for completing each of the four challenges:
- Rocket League Trophy Back Accessory: Full speed for the goal, for 1500 damage
- Rocket Royale” hang glider: a real aerialwhen you have eliminated 37 opponents
- Emoticon “Great shot!”, for 250 damage
- Golden Goal” Spray Motifwhen you have eliminated 3 opponents
You don’t have to worry about completing these missions, because usually it’s enough to play a few team deathmatches to get them all done. However, since this is a cross-promotional event celebrating two video games owned by Epic Games, Rocket League fans can also collect free cosmetics during this event. All you have to do is log into Rocket League, go to the Extras tab under Settings and click on Redeem Code. By entering the code RocketLeagueLive, you can get the banner “Neon Runner”, the roof attachment “Hustle Brows”, the wheels “Aero Mage” and the anthem “RLCS” for free. Interested Fortnite players can also play Rocket League for free, as the game was converted to free-to-play in 2020.
