– Season 6 is still cooking, and it’s far from over! If you’ve been spending most of your time trying to get better in the arena so you can snag those tasty rewards at the end of the – Season , you’re in for a change.

Once again, there will be a new LTM in Rocket League! We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the new game mode – how it works, when it’s available, and what other rewards you can snag. Let’s go!

What is Knockout Bash in Rocket League?

Knockout Bash is the newest limited time game mode (LTM) in Rocket League and has just been introduced by Psyonix. The gameplay has nothing to do with what we’re used to from our favorite game so far – unique goals, breathtaking air dribblings as well as fantastic parries you’ll look for in vain here.

Instead, this is Rocket League’s Battle Royale mode – or at least a kind of Battle Royale. It might sound strange at first, but once you’ve read through the rules of the new LTM, a lot of things will make sense.

But reading the rules is also lame… just have a look at the trailer of Knockout Bash, which Psyonix uploaded on YouTube. Maybe you have then already the view…

How does Rocket League Knockout Bash work?

The system is actually quite easy to explain, but the rules get a bit more complex. Theoretically, you just have to be the last survivor and you’ve won a round of Knockout Bash.

Meanwhile, you have to keep pushing your opponents out of the safe zone or push them directly into danger. You can block, attack or grab other bodies with your car. How all this works exactly, we explain to you now!

Game rules

Every game needs rules, but at the same time rules are made to be broken. But of course, you can’t play without rules – not even in Rocket League. Here’s how the official Rocket League website explains the new LTM Knockout Bash:

  • Team size
    • There are no teams in Knockout. Instead, 8 players all play against each other in free-for-all action. – we like it!
  • Life
    • Unlike Soccar, there are no unlimited respawns in Knockout. You have to be careful, because the third knockout means game over.
  • Safe zone
    • The arena is surrounded by a transparent dome – the “safe zone”. Whoever is pushed out of the safe zone must return to it within 10 seconds, otherwise this counts as a knockout. The safe zone shrinks as the game progresses – thus increasing the danger. After 6 minutes the game changes to the “Sudden KO” mode. (Sudden KO) mode, where every attack or throw has maximum force and leaving the safe zone means an immediate knockout.
  • Dangers
    • Each Knockout Arena contains hazards, such as spikes and a laser grid located under the platforms. Touching any of these hazards will result in an instant knockout.

Core Gameplay

  • Attack
    • Jumping into your opponents is a lot more effective than a simple jab. In Knockout, you can hurl your opponents through the air with a well-placed attack. Always remember: the faster you are, the harder you hit.
  • Block
    • When you block, your opponents’ attacks are directed at themselves. Be careful though, blocking needs to be timed carefully or it will fail and leave you exposed to an attack.
  • Snap
    • Hold down the snap button and jump into an enemy to snap him. Then jump again to fling him across the arena.

Other mechanics

  • Stun
    • If you are attacked, grabbed, thrown after being grabbed, or if your attack is blocked, you will be stunned. In this state, you are helpless and not in control of your cars. However, you can free yourself from the stun by pressing the “Unstun” button.
  • Targeting enemies
    • Instead of following the ball, the camera can now target opposing players. You can also quickly switch from one target to another.
  • Triple jump
    • Double jumps are SO yesterday. In Knockout, you have two additional jumps in the air. As soon as you touch the ground with your wheels, your jumps are reset.
  • Multiple jumps
    • The jump power has been increased, so you can now jump up to four times in the air. You also don’t need a flip reset, because there is no time limit for multiple jumps.
  • Jumping
    • In Knockout, jumps are much more vertical than in other Rocket League modes.
  • Boost
    • Since the boost in Knockout is slightly stronger, you can return to the platform if you have been knocked far away by other players. The boost will recharge whenever you’re not using it and your wheels are touching the ground.

Phew, that was quite a long list of rules, huh? Got everything so far? Yes? Very good, then we come to the next highlight of Knockout Bash: by gambling the LTM you can earn some rewards.

Rocket League Knockout Bash – All the info about the rewards.

Yep, read that right. Of course, you can earn some rewards again. Psyonix itself describes the challenge rewards as “no easy task”, but they should motivate players all the more for it.

What exactly you have to complete in the end is not yet clear. But you can be sure to see fresh items like the Florescence wheels, the Monarch rocket trail or the animated Flutterby sticker in the game.

There are also golden gift baskets to earn. These contain classic items from the Victory, Accelerator, and Turbo series – so there’s plenty you can’t buy every day in the Rocket League Item Shop. You can complete the challenge up to 5x and then open the golden gift baskets in your inventory.

When is the release of Knockout Bash in Rocket League?

The Knockout Bash in-game event will take place from April 27 to May 10 in Rocket League – Psyonix has officially confirmed this.

So you have about 2 weeks of fun and pure action left until the daily life in Rocket League continues and you will have especially your MMR in Rocket League in front of your eyes again. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing you in Knockout and getting ready. Mwhahaha. Cheers!

Rocket League Explained – Car-football for Dummies

Soccer meets racing. In Rocket League, you go hunting for goals with Turbo. What sounds simple can quickly become complex due to the variety of techniques to control the ball. Here’s your beginner’s guide to getting started as a Rocket League pro, including all the terminology you need to know.

Rocket League is a video game published by Psyonix and belongs to the genre (game category) “sports simulation”. These are games where players can virtually practice a sport. In the case of Rocket League, this is a combination of soccer and racing, played on a futuristic soccer field.

Players compete alone or with up to 3 other players in a team, with the goal of scoring as many goals as possible. The winner is the team that has scored more goals at the end of the time. A round lasts about 5 minutes, but is extended with a golden goal in case of a draw. Unlike in conventional soccer, the players do not control people here, but special cars that drive across the pitch.

Rocket League offers a variety of game modes. From classic car-football to fun game modes with mutators. These are selected before the start of each game. In eSports, only the classic mode without mutators is used.

The Rocket League ABC

In Rocket League, the goal is to master the car, learn special moves, and still keep track of the field. When pros throw around terms like 50/50 or double tab, it’s easy to lose track as a newbie. So that you can shine with your knowledge both in the game and in the stream, we have summarized the most important terms of the Rocket League universe for you here.

50/50 – When two or more players touch the ball at the same time, a kind of press ball is created. The direction in which the ball ultimately flies is random and resembles a 50/50 chance.

Aerial – Unlike classic soccer, Rocket League is not only played on the ground, due to their boost, players can also move in the air for a short time, dribble the ball there or start a shot attempt. As soon as a player leaves the ground he makes aerial actions.

Ballchasing – If a player is chasing the ball all the time and neglects his position, this is called ballchasing.

Boost – To bring the car faster to a higher speed there is boost. The players also use this to fly and steer with the cars.

Demolition – The possibility of demolition shows that Rocket League does not always have to be harmless. Here you drive at high speed through the car of another player and destroy the vehicle. The player is taken out of the game for a short time until respawn and the own team has a higher chance to score a goal.

Double Touch – Double Touch is a term often heard in professional Rocket League streams. This refers to a player scoring a goal by first shooting the ball at the wall next to, or above the opponent’s goal and then sending the rebound towards the goal.

Flick – Controlling the ball is the name of the game in Rocket League. Flicks are shots where the player touches the ball through the dodge mechanic while jumping and shoots with it.

Flip Reset- In Rocket League, each car has a double jump, after which the car must touch the ground with its 4 tires to be able to jump again. Due to the game mechanics, it is also possible to perform this on the ball – the so-called flip reset.

ReDirect – if e.g. player A shoots towards player B and the latter then deflects the direction of the ball e.g. towards the goal, this is called a ReDirect.

Wave Dash – One of the most important techniques in Rocket League is the Wave Dash. By a well-timed flip shortly before you touch the ground, you get a speed boost without performing the flip completely. The technique is mainly used when jumping down walls.
