Rocket League: All info on – Season 4 – launch, content, setting

The next League – Season is in the starting blocks! Even in the “new era” of the game after the switch to the F2P model and the change to the Store now starts tomorrow already the fourth – Season . At 5 p.m., the time has come for the new content to be added to the game by Psyonix and Epic Games. You can read about all the changes in this article.

Basically, it goes in terms of the setting in the Wild West. The new arena where you will compete with your opponents is called “Deadeye Canyon” and is first and foremost sandy. Of course, a new, themed Rocket Pass is also included, and the much-anticipated 2v2 tournaments are making an appearance. You can even play extra modes in tournament mode in the future.

More new content in detail

The Rocket Pass

Rocket League – Season 4 also has a new battle car in store for us. It is called “Outlaw” and is of course available in several variants in the Rocket Pass Premium. But also a lot of other rewards like “No-Name Topper”, “Tanker Wheels”, “Amikoo Decal” and “Lava Boost” are waiting for you there. (Take a close look at the Octane on the cover image for a first look at new rewards).

As in previous – Season s, Premium Pass holders will be able to unlock and complete additional XP boosts and weekly challenges to progress even faster. But even for free game enders, new items await every few levels.

Limited Time Modes

In addition, two Limited Time Modes (LTM) are planned. Directly on the day after the – Season start, i.e. on Thursday, August 12, Heatseeker will start in 2v2. Exactly one week later, on August 19, you can play “Speed Demo”. There, different aspects will be combined. The super fast game mode brings back memories of Boomer Ball, only without the extreme bounces of the ball. Be warned: You’ll be destroyed just by touching another battle car, but you’ll respawn faster.

Later in August, “Spring Loaded” will be added to the LTM mix as an additional variant of the Rumble game mode.

Streamer Safe Music

Rocket League is also following suit, and with the launch of – Season 4, finally offers the content creators among you an option to turn off all copyright-protected music in-game. Again, this is of course to avoid DMCA violations in streams and videos. You can find this new option in the audio settings. There you can check the box “Streamer Safe Music (Only)” and you should be on the safe side.

The protected material will either be muted or replaced directly with free-to-use music. This setting affects both Rocket League Radio and the player anthems that were added to the game in – Season 2.

New Rank Restrictions

In the future, you will only be able to play ranked matches together in Rocket League if your ranking does not drift too far apart. This is true at least if you sign up with a group that is too small, such as two in 3v3. If you do want to do this, your rating must be within three ranks of each other.

As an example, Psyonix mentions Platinum 3 and Diamond 3 here – no problem. However, if the Platinum player is only in Platinum 2, the difference of three ranks is exceeded and a joint entry in 3v3 is no longer possible. For extra modes, however, this restriction does not apply. Casual game modes are also excluded and individual divisions do not matter. Previously unranked accounts may compete with other players who are ranked in Gold 3 or higher.

Changes to Casual Matches

– Season 4 will also see an overhaul of how casual matches work. Instead of simply being able to quit a match (or be thrown into an ongoing match), there will be the option to quit in the future as well. The game will then end just like a ranked match. This should significantly improve the game experience and prevent early quitting.

But beware: If you still leave casual matches when your team doesn’t want to quit unanimously, new matchmaking locks will be implemented. If you abandon your team too often, you will be banned from competitive matches for longer and longer at a time. Single leaves (Psyonix talks about one match per day here), on the other hand, will not be punished yet.

Update and end of the ranking – Season

Last but not least, a note on deadlines and updates in preparation for – Season 4. So, starting at 1am tomorrow, August 11, a game update will be available for you to download that will lay the groundwork for – Season 4 in Rocket League. The competitive – Season 3 will then end at 4:30 pm.

The associated rewards will be distributed to the game players after the start of – Season 4 at 5pm.
