Riot Games has given a first look at what 2 new champions will be coming to League of Legends in 2022. A sniper (Marksman) and a supporter are planned. The hints are still cryptic – one speculates they could fit the new Netflix series.
Situation:
- LoL has an elaborate system for how new champions are introduced. At first, there are only vague hints about the direction the heroes will take. Shortly before the release, Riot Games then publishes more and more concrete hints, trailers and finally the exact introduction with skills
- The first new champion, a sniper, is planned for “early 2022”. The second, a Supporter, for “some patches after that”.
- The 2 new champions were supposed to be released in an event before the end of 2021. Riot realized that they didn’t really fit into the event, so they are now scheduled for 2022 – players speculate that the planned event might be related to the Netflix series “Arcane”.

Sniper brings “shooter feel” to LoL
Here’s what Riot Games has to say about the first Champion: With the first new champ, there are many allusions to a hero who charges with lightning. There’s talk of a kinetic sniper who’s always on the move, pulsing with “sparking conviction.” He plays “the game” with the speed of a machine gun.
From Riot Games, they say they also want to vary the idea of how “auto attacks” work in LoL with the character. Apparently, with the hero, the auto attacks will have a special function, similar to Graves, Xayah or Jhin.
Riot Games says they want to completely flip the “actual idea” of what Auto-Attacks mean in his case.
The hero is scheduled for release “very early in 2022.”

This is what Riot says about the 2nd New Champ in LoL: It’s apparently a supporter that revolves heavily around the themes of “money, technology, and power”. Riot says, “You can buy anything if you have enough cash.”
There are hints that the new hero can bribe his opponents to go after each other. The Supporter is also apparently supposed to be able to send people to their deaths.
The new Supporter in LoL is said to be someone who makes the announcements in the background about how things are going.
The new hero is said to come “a few patches after the sniper” in 2022.
This is how it is discussed: On reddit, people immediately have ideas about how the heroes could be and what kind of function they will later take in LoL. One user thinks the sniper could use a kind of “taser” to connect to the enemy and constantly deal damage to him, but to do that he would have to chase him. This would be a champion without much burst damage, but with a lot of “sustained damage.”
With the Supporter, it is believed that he might be able to use the enemy Champions or Minions against their own allies, forcing them to take certain actions. The new Supporter is compared to the champ “Winter Wyvern” in DOTA 2.
It is speculated that the new characters could be from “Pitover”, paralleling the new LoL Netflix series Arcane.
The newest heroine in LoL, Vex, arrived just a few days ago and was apparently significantly too strong:
