Riot Games has finally earned the “S in the name” in recent years. After only League of Legends was in the product portfolio of the developer studio for a long time, other titles were now gradually added. In the meantime, the Riot Games game universe actually includes several titles, with more to follow soon.
With the Auto Battle Teamfight Tactics, the card game Legends of Runeterra, the first-person shooter VALORANT as well as the League of Legends Mobile spin-off Wild Rift, a considerable collection of top-class video games has now been created. Although all desktop-based video games from this list already use the same client, which you have known from League of Legends for ages, the titles were not really united until now. That is about to change.
The new Riot Games client
As Riot Games itself reveals in a recent announcement, LoL, TfT, VALORANT and LoR (as well as, in all likelihood, upcoming titles) will be united in a single and new client. This is intended to not only free up space on your desktop if you are actively playing multiple Riot Games titles, but also provide the best possible experience and convenience in accessibility. In short: your Riot Games game library in one place.
The new client is expected to create an entirely new user interface, optimized features, dedicated product pages for each game including the latest news and events, and much more. Riot Games enthusiasts will no longer have to manually download or install games, miss news about their favorite games, and find a more direct way to get into the game.
The new Riot Games client will be released for the first time on September 20, 2021, and will be made available to all gamers worldwide on October 4, 2021, as scheduled, after a stability testing period that is expected to last a few weeks. However, this date can still be postponed if there are any difficulties. So consider these dates with a bit of caution.
Riot Games has already announced that more features will be added to the client after launch. We are talking about features that will make it even easier and more rewarding to play Riot Games games. There will be further updates in the coming months.
Remember, Riot Games also has several projects in development that we know relatively little about so far. Both a fighting game, which still goes by the name “Project L,” and an action RPG called “Project F” were announced as part of the League of Legends 10th anniversary celebration. A League of Legends MMO is also in development, but is currently not expected before 2023.
