Record champion scolds current pros – Playing too little LoL after practice, probably just chilling out

twitch streamer #Doublelift is considered one of the best players in North America of all time. But he has little sympathy for the current pros in LoL. They wouldn’t play LoL voluntarily enough after their training program, so nothing could come of them.

“They’re probably just hanging out with friends!”

That’s Doublelift’s criticism of the current pros:

According to Doublelift, the current pros in LoL trained too little in their free time. He expects every pro to play at least 3 games a day in LoL’s “Champions League”.

The 2 hours would have to invest everyone – you can also tear off 4 hours if you want to have the next day off (via youtube):

I don’t understand what’s going on. What are they doing? I was a professional for 10 years. I know what people can do after training to get better. You can watch replays, play 1vs1 or 2vs2 in custom matches, and you can play solo cue. What do they do after scrims? They probably just hang out with friends!

Doublelift

What does Doublelift base this on?

Doublelift looks at a statistic from Travis Gafford. The keeps a record of which US pros on each team have completed the most players in the “Champions Queue”: This is a special elite SoloQ in LoL that only pros, Academy players and the best amateurs get access to. Anyone who messes up in this SoloQ will face public disgrace and humiliation.

According to Doublelift, the players who play the most in the Champions Queue are also the best players on their respective teams.

Doublelift believes: Western players have excuses to skip SoloQ

Doublelift says: it was expected in his day for players to play solo cue after practice. Especially those who performed poorly had to put in double effort.

He apparently can’t believe that as a professional you don’t still rip off games in your spare time. He believes that if you ask the players who skip SoloQ about it, they come up with umpteen excuses: They don’t feel well, they train differently, they suffer from stress.

But Doublelift doesn’t want to accept any of that. The US Americans should take a leaf out of the book of the South Korean Faker:

“In Eastern countries, there is no excuse. You just play. You don’t even think about that. Even if you feel bad […] Faker hates the solo cue, but he plays 10 games a day. You just have to.”

Doublelift

That’s what’s behind it:

What Doublelift is doing here is a hobby of many fans who use stats to check how “lazy or fluent” a player is.

But this leads to permanent pressure and a dangerous vicious circle, which ensures that some e-sportsmen feel more and more pressure, which hits the psyche, they play even more and don’t allow themselves any rest at all. The performance goes down, there is even more pressure, you play even more, and ultimately you burn out and the end of your career looms.
