Better late than never?

According to well-known CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope, Warzone is finally getting a ranked mode over two years after its release. The news came as a surprise to the Warzone community, which is already eagerly awaiting a release date for Warzone 2.0. Incidentally, this could also be the reason for the CoD developers’ change of heart to introduce a ranked mode in Warzone after all.

Many assume that the new mode is a kind of test run for Warzone 2.0. This would be supported by the time limit of the mode for the time being.

Ranked mode for current Warzone is coming before MWII releases. Will not be a full fledged ranked mode but will be THE blueprint they use going into Warzone 2. Will be released on Current Warzone for testing purposes.

Ghost goes on to say that the mode is limited to Caldera only and will not be playable on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island. He couldn’t say whether modes like Iron Trials or special events will be playable in the mode. If the leak is actually confirmed, this would be a bold move for Warzone. After all, there isn’t even an SBMM (Skill Base Matchmaking) yet, the introduction of which always leads to discussions within the community.

Guinea pig

Twitter is already seeing the first comments that the Warzone community is nothing more than a guinea pig for Warzone 2.0. While the developers still haven’t gotten to grips with many of the problems such as bugs, cheaters and dubious skins in Warzone, they are mentally already in development for Warzone 2.0, whose release date has still not been announced.

Whether the new mode is similar to the one from Vanguard or something completely new remains to be seen. Ghost couldn’t say the exact date for the mode’s launch, but the earliest we can assume is – Season 5, which is still a long way off. In any case, the release should take place before the release of Modern Warfare II on October 28. We can only speculate about where the developers’ sudden interest in a ranked mode in Warzone comes from. For example, a better marketing of Warzone 2.0 at tournaments and in esports would be conceivable.

Just recently, another leak had confirmed that MW II will also get a ranked mode and even faster than thought.
