The Glance Smart Goggles perform a function that was previously virtually non-existent for the Defender team. When activated, Warden can see through smoke and capture an otherwise confusing situation. The activated data goggles also protect Warden from glare and remove existing vision problems after flashes to save him important seconds that could otherwise be his undoing. However, the Glance’s thermal vision only works while Warden is standing still. Otherwise, he is affected by smoke just like everyone else. The Glance Goggles effect must be triggered and restored via cooldown after use.

Collinn McKinley enlisted in the Marine Corps at 18 and earned several commendations on his service record for his aggressive, quick mindset. Despite some minor negative entries, he was promoted to Master Sergeant. After his third stint, he left the Marines and joined the Secret Service as a bodyguard. McKinley’s agility was instrumental in saving Secretary Baldwin’s life when US diplomats on a short trip were attacked by insurgents. When Baldwin later won the US Presidential election, he demanded that McKinley be assigned to the President’s Personal Security Division. I’ve learned to read between the lines, and as for Specialist Collinn “Warden” McKinley, that’s where the real story is. His role as a protector came naturally to him as he clashed with his strict, hard-working father at an early age and had to defend his brothers at school. However, during his three stints in the Marines, it became second nature to him.

McKinley’s tenure with the Secret Service reads like a gossip column or a Washington spy novel. During the attack on then-Secretary of State Baldwin, the attackers used flash and smoke grenades and heavy barrage to disperse the bodyguards. McKinley realized that all evacuation routes were cut off and evacuated Baldwin alone. The incident clarifies the cause of McKinley’s special glasses – but it also sheds light on his modus operandi… his talent for improvisation. He’s never been wrong, and I’m afraid he’ll trust his instincts until one day they fail him.

His access to the inner circle through the Office of the President made him the go-to resource for handling sticky situations. He’s smart enough to lead people on the right path without incriminating himself, and I suspect he knows the closet has a lot of skeletons. McKinley has amassed quite a war chest of political favors and a reputation as a heartthrob. President Baldwin once told me that McKinley’s liaisons dwarfed some close to some presidents. The First Lady was anything but impressed by this joke.

He knows exactly how to manipulate people. He makes heavy use of his Kentucky dialect when dealing with Republican senators and plays the Southern gentleman with the ladies. I was very amused to watch him try to play the same game with me… but I’ve mastered the art as well.

McKinley reveres his teams and works well with others, but his ties to the Oval Office have given him an aura of invulnerability. McKinley has made numerous enemies among politicians, businessmen and lobbyists – he is a walking encyclopedia of their sins, and President Baldwin is no longer there to continue to protect him.

His unconventional approach allows us to lead the military and law enforcement with more agility and precision. He is someone who has an understanding of coordination on a larger scale. Unfortunately, that also means I owe President Baldwin a 25-year-old Scottish single malt for recommending McKinley – he’s obnoxious when he’s right.
