Rainbow6 Operator-THERMITE

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PLAYING STYLE

Thermite is an important back-up for an attacking team. Thermite is one of the few heavy breakthrough soldiers in the game, and losing him early significantly limits your team. Playing Thermite requires patience, leadership, and excellent communication with your team.

Jordan Trace

DATE OF BIRTH
March 14 (Age: 35)

PLACE OF BIRTH
Plano, Texas

BACKGROUND

“Where you see a wall, I see an opportunity.”

Trace joined the Corps right out of high school. He is a fourth-generation Marine. After his first deployment to Iraq, he gained enough experience to volunteer as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. Following his second deployment to Iraq, Trace returned to the United States, enrolled in college and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. His experience and knowledge made him a natural fit for a position with the FBI, where he worked for many years as an agent in the Hazardous Materials Response Unit. Seeking a more dynamic work environment, Trace transferred to FBI SWAT, where he earned an excellent reputation developing new barricade procedures. Eventually, his path led him to Rainbow, where he took further interest in researching and developing equipment improvements. Trace’s hometown is home to a particularly large number of Americans of Chinese descent. As a result, he has a solid working knowledge of Mandarin.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

For someone as disciplined and orderly as Special Operations Officer Jordan “Thermite” Trace, he’s always good for a surprise. He’s always up for a joke and rarely holds back on his smart-aleck remarks. Behind this facade, however, things are often different: His sister recently died of cancer, and his mother passed away a few years earlier. These circumstances make it extremely difficult for him to channel his thoughts and energy as conscientiously as he is used to doing. I fear that he is only trying to mask his grief with his humor. He needs to understand that some coping will only delay the healing process further. We have the resources to support him through this, and I will continue to offer them to him where and when I can.

Trace is an incredibly strong tactical leader, but he can also jump into the fray without a prevailing consensus. I don’t think he has any lasting discord with other team members. The others like him a lot. He also works well with our special ops team members Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa, Mike “Thatcher” Baker, and Emmanuelle “Twitch” Pichon. In his spare time, he can even prove to be quite the party animal.

Some suggestions for improvement: Trace’s communication skills are excellent when he decides to use them. He is a good strategist, but tends to “close off” at times. I know he is capable of a more flexible mindset, so I have given him some on how to recognize when it is time to challenge his stubbornness.

There is much more behind his smile than is apparent at first glance. I would like to see him find a way to regulate himself and find a work-life balance. Trace shows no outward signs of stress. Instead, he tries to turn negative energy into something positive, such as in our research lab. It was not at all easy to convince him that he also has to put aside his identity and role as an operator in between. Turning his attention to other demanding tasks cannot be the solution. I have therefore familiarized him with mental relaxation exercises that do not require a great deal of time and can be easily integrated into everyday life. Imagawa, in particular, could prove to be a positive influence here, as she also regularly practices mental techniques that help her to concentrate and relax better. I hope he takes her advice to heart.

WOLFGUARD

“To serve is why so many of us are committed to what we do.” – Doc

Wolfguard is designated as the world’s leading humanitarian military unit and is known for its compassionate and prudent approach. It excels in high-visibility operations that take place in close proximity to civilians and where collateral damage must be avoided at all costs. Most of its members are trained in field medicine and specialized in some type of protection.

Special operations officer Gustave “Doc” Kateb leads this squad. He is on good terms with his subordinates and has an impeccable image with governments and the press. Although he and the rest of the Wolfguard were brought together to use their skills in delicate missions for the good of all, their popularity cannot be overlooked. It will always play a role in their missions.
