BACKGROUND

Estrada was born at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and spent his childhood on various national and international bases, including Germany, Turkey and Japan. His father was a pilot and his mother a senior intelligence officer. From an early age, Estrada showed a keen interest in science and was soon taking advanced courses. With a focus on forensics and biochemistry, he was a natural fit for the FBI’s biometrics program. He was the youngest intern ever admitted to the program. He performed his role as an agent with flying colors and was quickly recruited by SWAT, serving in both the field and the FBI lab. Due to Estrada’s high emotional intelligence, he soon joined the FBI’s hostage rescue team (HRT – Hostage Rescue Team), where he excelled in crisis management and negotiation tactics. His knowledge of behavioral biometrics enabled him to develop the heart sensor and several other prototypes, which he is still working on to this day.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

Specialist Jack “Pulse” Estrada keeps his nerve and unwavering judgment during operations. Meeting someone with such boyish enthusiasm was an entertaining surprise for me. During our lively conversation we covered all sorts of topics – from biology, fighter jets and diving to his father’s great passion: muscle cars. I had never heard this term before. At first I was a bit on the hose. But then Estrada showed me some pictures.
We also talked about how fascinated he had been with biology and chemistry as a child. That he wanted to be an astronaut and, as he laughed, could still become one. He is fascinated by the thought that there might be other life forms out there somewhere. This consideration prompted him to report with great enthusiasm on his deep-sea expeditions.

Estrada became calmer and more thoughtful when we got to talking about his mother. He became very serious and his voice suddenly had a wistful undertone. It was his mother who first noticed how good he was at recognizing and interpreting microexpressions. She raised him to be a freethinker and let him determine the pace of his academic studies himself. She was an introvert by nature, which was exacerbated by her work in military intelligence. Since Estrada finds it so easy to read others, it obviously annoys him that he can’t do it at all with his mother.

Life is an adventure and Estrada is ready to grab it by the forelock. A healthy attitude. I wonder how his euphoric energy is affecting the group. Estrada told me that he has made it his goal to live more “in the moment” and “slow down”. He wants to be more careful. I asked him if anyone had encouraged him to take this new perspective, but he dodged my question.

Even in the most extreme conditions, Estrada puts the team first. And of course they all only speak of him in the highest tones. He says he feels an obligation to teammates of this caliber. […] He is friends with Specialist Jordan “Thermite” Trace, but there is a certain professional rivalry between him and Specialist Monika “IQ” Weiss. They seem to like to goad each other. Nothing to worry about. A little challenge here and there certainly can’t hurt Estrada.
