BACKGROUND

Brunsmeier and his twin brother grew up in a working-class neighborhood near the Berlin Wall. Their father was a policeman and he encouraged the boys to follow in his footsteps. During his time with the Federal Police (BPOL), Brunsmeier proved to be extremely reliable, especially in crisis situations. His stint with the Fliegerstaffel lasted long enough to earn his helicopter license, but his adaptability and border patrol experience made him ideal for covert operations. He allowed himself to be smuggled into the terrorist organization Red Army Faction (RAF) and later into the Hanover chapter of the Hell’s Angels as an undercover investigator. In both operations, Brunsmeier gathered valuable information and was instrumental in enabling key figures to be arrested. During the course of his covert missions, Brunsmeier honed his skills in guerrilla tactics and unconventional explosive and incendiary devices. He also developed prototypes for his electric barricade and mobile shield. He is fluent in German, English, Polish and Turkish.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

An Operator who has worked undercover for years in dangerous biker gangs and militant groups can only be expected to be clever and adaptable. And as I reread Specialist Dominic “Bandit” Brunsmeier’s file, I’m blown away by the ingenuity he displayed. It becomes clear how creatively and strategically clever he had to act in order to survive. To be honest, what really surprised me was his sense of humor. But it certainly gave him strength during his covert missions. Nevertheless, he also exudes an ice-cold strength. If I want to be reminded what a wimpy civilian I am, all I have to do is look Brunsmeier in the eye.
Brunsmeier only speaks highly of his brother. He’s totally absorbed in his job as the uncle to his brother’s kids – they’re the only ones he can really fool around with. He told me about her childhood in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. How they sometimes heard a loud bang when something had set off a landmine. And how they couldn’t resist fooling the border patrols with their twin pranks.

I didn’t want to ask him directly about his work as an undercover cop. Only at our last meeting did he reveal some information of his own accord. Brunsmeier spoke of how difficult it is to maintain your own identity when you have to play someone else. The question “Who are you?” haunted him until he slept. He knew only too well that if he dared to answer that, he was as good as dead. Even thinking about that question was dangerous. So he pushed her away. We talked about what he had to do to make sure his cover wasn’t blown. So it came again and again to the most abstruse rumors about his person. He smiled and assured me that these were only half-truths. I don’t want to abuse his trust at this point. I just have to judge if they could affect him and the Rainbow team. At this point I can only say that the team works well together.

It is of the utmost importance that Brunsmeier does not close himself off. Training alongside other Operators like Specialist Miles “Castle” Campbell, Emmanuelle “Twitch” Pichon, or Elias “Blitz” Koetz might prove helpful. The calm demeanor of these Operators could help Brunsmeier keep his inner demons in check.
