BACKGROUND

Azami grew up in the city of Kyoto, combining the ultra-modern with tradition. She was constrained by the strict rules of her home and found a way to express herself in fashion and martial arts. Her focus and determination allowed Azami to quickly rise through the aikido ranks. This aptitude and her dedicated study of languages came in handy when she moved to Tokyo to study at the Metropolitan Police Academy.

While working for the motorcycle police, she received her third dan in jiu jitsu and her fifth dan in aikido, which brought her to the TMPD’s Security Police Division. However, she fell out with her sensei, as she could never achieve the composure necessary for her continued progress. After being suspended from work for several violent incidents, she decided she would rather work as a private bodyguard. Azami worked exclusively for Masayuki Yahata in Fukuoka before his death brought her back into contact with Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

There is a mystery behind the mask of special ops officer Kana “Azami” Fujiwara. Her serious charm can be disarming, making her the perfect companion for business or social meetings. However, if her employer is in danger, she will remove her mask, so I should only proceed with the utmost caution if I want to see behind it.

Fujiwara’s answers to my questions about her family background were polite and, dare I say it …. rehearsed. I am still not sure if her devotion to the teachings of Bushido was fostered by her relationship with her father or out of spite toward him. A high degree of self-control, independence, and extraversion stand out in her profile. Her performance as a bodyguard has shown that she can keep a cool head even in extreme situations and can be trusted with her life.

Her reaction to Yahata’s death was uncharacteristic of her and that worries me. She refuses to answer to her birth name until she uncovers the truth behind Masayuki Yahata’s death. She now calls herself “Azami” and claims, “Until my honor is restored, I am only retribution.” The name is meant to remind her of her guilt. His death goes beyond a professional mistake and is personal grief for her. When he uttered her name with his last breath, he burdened her with a heavy burden. I can see that she is having a hard time carrying it.

 Fujiwara began to beam when we talked about fashion, but I think I offended her by suggesting we go shopping at the mall. “I don’t store, I curate.” Her wardrobe is obsessively meticulous and each garment was chosen for its form and function. I would say that her bold fashion sense distracts the eye while hiding a multitude of weapons – the most dangerous of which is her anger. Next time, I think I will rather ask her about her poetry.

 I watched her during her training. Although her movements are precise, her smoothness is punctuated by an unpredictability of her weaponized anger. Hibana vouches for her skills and trustworthiness, and although she has gained my trust, her methods require more rigorous scrutiny.
