Ubisoft mentioned back in 2019 that they would like to offer cross-play for each of their PvP titles. Now it looks like it’s Rainbow Six: Siege’s turn, according to the game’s official Twitter channel:
“Cross-play between PC and cloud gaming platforms is currently being tested. Check out Ubisoft Forward on June 12 for more information on Rainbow Six: Siege’s plans… (buy now €7.99 /€17.99 ) to Cross-Play and Cross-Progression.”
The tweet only mentions PC and cloud platforms such as Google Stadia, but in the game are already some UI elements have appeared, that also hint at cross-play for consoles. In shooters like Rainbow Six: Siege, cross-play between PC and console always proves to be a challenge, since aiming with keyboard and mouse is much easier than with a controller. We will probably find out how exactly Ubisoft wants to tackle this problem on June 12, 2021 at Ubisoft Forward.
In the Twitter post, the developers also write about cross-progression, which is a welcome feature for games of this type. This allows you to transfer your progress in the game and unlocked content to other platforms and not have to start all over again.
We received more news from the Rainbow Six universe in March 2021, when the system requirements and some gameplay scenes from the upcoming Rainbow Six: Quarantine were leaked.
