Rainbow Six Siege – Season 2 – Supporter Thunderbird joins the defenders in “North Star”.

  • In the second – Season it goes off to the north of America
  • Operator Thunderbird is created in collaboration with members of the Nakoda Nations
  • She is a support from Canada who can heal herself and all other players with her gadget

In March, the first – Season of Rainbow Six Siege’s sixth year kicked off, bringing us Argentine Operator Flores, the Border rework, and much more. You can find the roadmap for the entire year of the Ubisoft shooter here.

But here it is to start with the innovations of the second – Season . Named “North Star”, the new – Season brings the prairies of Canada into the game and introduces defender Mina Sky, callsign “Thunderbird”. She comes from the Nakoda Nations and is a support character with speed 3 and armor 1.

Thunderbird’s gagdet, the Kóna Station, is placed in one location and fires healing pellets at anyone standing within its radius – and by anyone, that includes enemy attackers. So a smart placement here can save lives and also deny rescue.

With this gadget, Thurnderbird is the first operator who can also heal other players. The Native American’s gadget does not heal continuously, but has a certain cooldown. Once she is ready to fire again, the station lights up blue.

When a defender is down, they can crawl to the Kóna station and get back on their feet with her healing. Opponents can shoot the gadget, disable it and find it with scanners.

In creating the operator, Ubisoft worked with real members of the Nakoda Nations. You can purchase Thunderbird either directly at the release of the second – Season in the or three weeks later in the store.

Another highlight of the new – Season is the Favela rework. The map is being renovated – a belated spring cleaning, so to speak. Many destructible walls in the outdoor area disappear and the chaotic indoor area is completely redone to make it easier for players to find their way around.

A few balancing changes are coming to Rainbow Six players as well. Melusis Banshee is now generated. If operators get close to her, she opens her vulnerable interior like a flower and can be shot in this state.

There is also a small nerf for Mira and Maestro. If a player hits the camera or window, the glass shatters to the point that the view is blocked by the two gadgets. In addition, the behavior and appearance of all smoke effects will be adjusted. This should help players better understand where the smoke is coming from and where it is spreading to.

What won’t bug you anymore from Y6S2 onwards are teeny tiny bullet holes in walls. These no longer exist. Larger holes caused by grenades or pure impact still provide a wider field of vision – only that this is easier for enemies to detect.

Lastly, fallen operators are replaced by their icons after a short time – this is to prevent bugs – and the death sequence is now more transparent, providing a closer look at the situation as well as a way to quickly skip it.

On the test server, the “Gameplay After Death” is also implemented, where you can still use functional gadgets after death, and the modified health system, which converts armor into health points, is already being tested.
