Rainbow Six Extraction has crossplay and here is all the info about it

Go into battle with players from other platforms? In you can.

Rainbow Six Extraction is the new co-op shooter from Ubisoft, in which you have to deal with aliens either alone or with up to two players and complete different tasks in defined areas. Since the game should ideally be played in co-op, the question automatically arises whether Rainbow Six Extraction offers cross-play.

And indeed, the shooter does offer a full crossplay functionality, so not only cross-gen between the PlayStation or Xbox systems, but actually cross-platform. This means that players from all platforms on which the title is released can play with each other, i.e.

Are there any requirements for crossplay? Yes, there are. In order to use the crossplay functionality, you have to create a free Ubisoft Connect account and then link it to the account of the respective console. You can find out exactly how that works here.

Linking to the Ubisoft Connect account ensures that you can find and invite other players via the menu, even if they are currently on other platforms.

Also cross-save and cross-progression on board

Besides cross-play, Rainbow Six Extraction also offers other cross-platform features. Cross-Save allows you to save your score across platforms – for example, if you have installed Extraction on multiple systems, and Cross-Progression ensures your progress – also across platforms.

For this – you guessed it – it is also necessary to link the used platforms with the same Ubisoft Connect account, the Ubisoft service then acts as an interface between the different systems.

Cross-platform yes, splitscreen no

On the other hand, there is bad news for all those who were looking forward to couch co-op in Rainbow Six Extraction. Unfortunately, the shooter does not support a local co-op mode on a console and is therefore not playable in splitscreen.

However, Ubisoft does offer a “Buddy Pass” for Extraction. Those who purchase the game can invite up to two friends to join their squad, even if these people do not own the game. The access is valid for 14 days after redemption – which should be enough to get a comprehensive impression of the game.

Rainbow Six Extraction is probably the most unusual series spin-off so far, after all, you’re not competing against terrorists here, but aliens. Read more about the game’s peculiarities and our impressions in Eleen’s preview.
