More and more is being revealed about the upcoming – Season 3 of Year 5 in Rainbow Six Siege. Now the game’s Creative Director and Lead Game Designer have also spoken out about it – and hinted at even more. They only have a few short sentences to spare, but they carry a lot of weight.
Here’s what the bosses have to say: On Twitter, Creative Director Leroy Athanassoff and Lead Game Designer Jean-Baptiste Hallé have given some hints about the upcoming content for Rainbow Six Siege.
From Hallé, it was said that the upcoming – Season 3 of Year 5 will be “the biggest […] – Season yet” and will change the meta like no other (via Twitter). YouTuber Skittlz has already played the – Season in advance and confirmed: “This is a whole new game” (via Twitter).
Recently banned YouTuber BikiniBodhi wrote elsewhere that this should all be nicknamed “Siege 2.0” after all. In response, Athanassoff chimed in, saying, “Man, if you think this is 2.0, you’re clearly not prepared for next year.”

That changes with – Season 3: It is already known for the upcoming – Season 3 “Shadow Legacy” that Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher aka Zero is coming as an operator, as well as presumably a new gadget.
The new gadget is the “Mini Breach Charge”, which will completely change the meta. With it, many attacker operators will suddenly have the ability to partially destroy reinforced walls and take cover from defenders.
Reinforcements, along with, say, good reconnaissance, are one of the most important tactical elements for victory in Rainbow Six Siege. They determine which routes opponents can take or not. They also form important hiding places and cover for defenders. The latter is virtually eliminated with the new gadget.

What comes after and with year 6? We already know that there is a big rework for the operator Tachanka coming this year, so either in the upcoming – Season 3 or in the last – Season 4 of Year 5.
Tachanka is currently quite weak and should therefore be revised.
Furthermore, there is already a leak that reveals the second operator that will come in year 5: Aruni, a quick-witted Thai boxer. After the leak to Zero (there still under the name Scout) was already true, Aruni is also quite safe. – Season s 3 and 4 of Year 5 are the first in which only one operator comes into play.
So far, however, there is nothing to back up Athanassoff’s statement about Year 6. Nothing is yet known about the upcoming – Season s after Year 5. So it remains to be seen whether we are really not prepared for what is coming.
