Puma Jerseys Under Fire: Mockery and Malice

The World Cup jerseys of numerous nations come from the house of Puma. All of them have a similar design. However, many Internet users are not very pleased with the look of the new jerseys.

Now they are here: The new World Cup away jerseys of the equipment supplier Puma!

The German company unveiled the outfits of Switzerland, Austria, Uruguay, Ghana, Morocco, Serbia and Senegal on Monday (August 29, 2022). The teams will wear the kits at the World Cup in Qatar, which begins on November 20, 2022.

Fans pissed: “The ugliest jersey I’ve ever seen”.

All the leotards come in a pretty similar look, just in different colors and with different association crests.

All jerseys have a frame in the chest and stomach area, in which the emblem of the federation, the back number of the respective player and mostly another application can be found. Above this is the well-known Puma logo.

Among Twitter users, however, the new leotards are met with little enthusiasm. Puma is often accused of a lack of creativity on social media.

Under the new away kit for the Austrian national team, for example, one disappointed user comments: “The ugliest jersey I’ve ever seen.”

“You guys are an absolute joke. Did you hire a four-year-old to design this?” asks a Twitter user on the Puma site under the posted photo of the Ghana shirt.

On the federation’s page from Switzerland, a user grumbled a little more subtly: “The designer of these jerseys started designing them at 4:45 p.m. and still called it a day at 4:58 p.m.”

At the 2016 European Championships, Puma had already had to live with the mockery of the fans, as the jerseys of the Swiss Confederates regularly showed large, unmistakable tears at the time.
