Update as of January 6, 2022 (4:15 pm): Who buys PlayStation 5 consoles for 800, 900, 1,000 or even 1,500 €? This question inevitably arises when you take a look at platforms like kaufland.de or in the department of “All offers” on the PS5 product page of Amazon*.

The sellers are mostly individuals or small commercial businesses from in and around the country. Even if the rates are sometimes three times the list price: Such offers are not illegal – nor are they “usury” because, for example, a consumer’s emergency situation is not being exploited.

Nevertheless, we advise buying the PlayStation 5 exclusively from reputable retailers, electronics markets or directly from large mail-order companies.

If you are in a particular hurry: When buying via Ebay or Ebay Classifieds, you should always insist on original packaged new goods including a dealer invoice that is as up-to-date as possible – stay away from used devices and consoles from unclear origins. Halfway acceptable prices for a brand-new PlayStation 5 are in the range of 500 to 550 € (Digital Edition) or 600 to a maximum of 650 € (Disc Edition).

Update from January 6, 2022 (12:30 p.m.): We have evaluated the first 50 responses from Von Floerke customers as an example – thank you very much for a three-digit number of mails within a few hours.

Findings:

• More than half of the outstanding orders were placed in November, the ‘rest’ already in October. A few orders date from September.
• 8 out of 10 customers received an apology and choice email from Von Floerke in early December (read: delivery within 30 business days or credit).
• Nearly all customers have responded by email to. against the repayment and For the delivery of the PlayStation 5. According to the evaluation so far, there have been no separate confirmations, not even from the hotline.

Message dated January 6, 2022 (9:45 am): MediaMarkt/Saturn in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, GameStop in Memmingen, Swabia, Amazon in Munich, Euronics in Ditzingen near Stuttgart: Today is a regional holiday (Christmas Day) at the locations of many company headquarters – so the offices are likely to be largely deserted.

In combination with tomorrow’s bridge day plus the ongoing Christmas vacations, there is a lot to suggest that we will only see the first ‘real’ drops next week – especially since the first PS5 hardware news of the year will be released next Friday with three fresh DualSense controllers. One week later, the replacement console covers (faceplates) will be delivered.

Meanwhile, delivery and pickup of pre-ordered consoles continues apace. Not everywhere, though: we still receive a large number of emails every day from Von Floerke customers who ordered a PlayStation 5 by credit card in the fall and have been waiting for the promised delivery ever since, or alternatively have requested a refund of the purchase amount. At the beginning of December, the company had promised to deliver the console “within 30 business days from today at the latest” to be delivered. This deadline ends in mid-January.

We know that there are many ‘silent readers’. Therefore, we would like to get an impression of the status quo and would like to ask the affected customers to send us a short mail (subject: Von Floerke). Relevant:

• Current status (waiting for PS5 delivery / refund requested / refund made)

In the meantime, we are trying to find out to what extent the delivery date can be met.
