Currently, PS5 players seem to have technical problems with CoD: Modern Warfare. An error message asks for data to be installed. But this does not work. On reddit, users share the problem. Some suspect that CoD: Warzone is the trigger of the technical problems in the game.

The installation of the missing data packages was not possible

What problems do PS 5 players have? The problem occurs in the three modes: campaign, multiplayer as well as Spec Ops. If the player tries to start one of these modes, a message appears that the required data packages are not installed.

If the player then tries to follow the game’s instructions and download the missing data, they are again shown an error message: The installation is “suspended”.

Does Activision know about the problem of PS5 players? The problem that players are currently experiencing is already listed as a known issue on Activision’s support page: Here the problem is described for PS5 players that they can’t install multiplayer packs, due to interrupted installation.

User believe: Activision neglects Modern Warfare because of Warzone

What does Warzone have to do with the problem? The website Eurogamer as well as some reddit sub suspect: CoD: Warzone is responsible for the problems in CoD: Modern Warfare.

Eurogamer explains the problems as follows: Since CoD: Modern Warfare was supplemented with CoD: Warzone, the game has been plagued with problems. With each CoD: Warzone patch, the data in Modern Warfare is deleted and has to be downloaded again each time. The downloads would always include several hundred gigabytes of data. This would make it confusing as to what data is actually needed to play CoD: Modern Warfare.

In addition, Activision’s resources are currently being invested primarily in CoD: Warzone, so that predecessor games like CoD: Modern Warfare are taking a back seat. That’s why this game is allegedly receiving less attention. Some reddit users have a similar view, and they call Warzone the culprit behind the technical problems in Modern Warfare: Users write that CoD: Modern Warfare came up short after the release of CoD: Warzone, and that updates have been necessary so often since then that the amount of data in the game has become too large.
