League of Legends pro player Pavle “Yoppa” Kostić passed away on November 23 at just 23 years old. The top Serbian laner last played for Schalke 04’s junior team in LoL. As reported by an e-sports league from the Balkans, he died of complications with the viral disease Covid 19.

Esports Balkan League is one of the regional leagues of LoL in Masters. The league shared an article from a Serbian news site on November 24 reporting the death of Yoppa in the wake of complications with the “Covid-19” virus. The Serb was only 23 years old.

They say the death was unexpected.

Yoppa was considered the first Serb to “make it” in LoL

In the message Yoppa is described as “one of the most promising players in our region”, he was the first Serbian who managed to reach the first place in the Challengers on the EUW server and one of the first Serbs who made it to international teams.

The tragedy is that just a week earlier, the league’s Twitter channel had posted a picture of Yoppa going through all of his contract offers to suggest how coveted Yoppa was in the transfer market.

Where did he play?

Yoppa has been under contract with various lower-tier LoL teams or Academy teams in LoL on and off for the past few years. In 2019, he had a spot in the squad of MAD Lions, the current top team in the LEC, but they were still playing underclass at the time. Last year they became champions of the LEC. Then in 2020 he was with Vitality.Bee and in 2021 with Schalke Evolution.
