Pro explains how to actually win every round – eSportsNews eSports RainbowSix

On the ninth day of the GSA in Siege, one of the previously weakening pro teams finally pulled off a strong victory. In an interview, one of the pros explained how the win came about – and how it works for pretty much every round.

Who are the pros? Rogue is one of the teams of the GSA League, who themselves already play in the Pro League of Rainbow Six Siege. They have already won the Pro League – Season 11 in Europe and are currently playing in both the GSA and the EU League.

Yesterday, July 9, they faced newcomer FACT Gaming for the second time in the second round. In their first encounter, FACT dismantled Rogue a few weeks ago with a blatant comeback.

FACT’s motto at the time was, “Guys, don’t worry, we’ll just push them over.” That obviously didn’t work this time, as Rogue won the match with a strong 7:2. In the following interview, German Rogue player Lukas “korey” Zwingmann reveals how they did it.

Rogue reveals the trick to victory

Here’s how the match went down: The match starts quite evenly and even in favor of FACT Gaming, who take the lead twice. As korey later explains, this is because Rogue deliberately played more aggressively at the beginning to intimidate the newcomers – which didn’t work.

Rogue therefore has to quickly adjust and manages to catch up with both of FACT’s leads in the very next round. Instead of going on the offensive against the opponents, Rogue reacts dynamically and plays safer instead of more offensive.

The tactic seems to work well, as the pros don’t make any mistakes from here on and win all rounds. From round 4 the winning streak begins until the eventual 7:2 for Rogue.

How exactly did Rogue win? korey, in the post-match interview, talks about the mistake FACT made: they didn’t do anything with their successes. More precisely, with the space they took.

Whenever FACT managed to secure an area, they either didn’t spread out from there or let Rogue surprise them.

The pros have responded by either simply waiting (as defenders) because FACT didn’t press hard enough, or by cutting a swath through the enemy team to flank the remaining or disarm the bomb.

So FACT’s biggest problem has been that they have not used their potential and strong situations.

How do I use these ? Almost without exception, korey’s statements can be applied to any match in Rainbow Six. What he means by taking up space is that you should secure certain areas on the maps.

This applies both as an attacker and defender. Coordinate with your team to secure and hold certain entrances and spaces so that you can be confident that no enemies will come from those directions.

In doing so, react to what the enemy is doing. If he is trying to exploit the positions you have occupied, reinforce the areas he now wants to come over instead. Reconnaissance via drones, cameras and gagdets as well as good coordination and team play are the key here.

This basic tactic is the key to winning any round. It only becomes problematic when the opponent knows this as well – then it comes down to who can better secure their area and operate from it.

The results of game day 9

This is how the matchday went: You can certainly learn the most from Rogue’s match against FACT. However, all of the Matchday Nine matches are pretty clear-cut victories – stronger than any previous Matchday:

  • DIVIZON 7:0 mYinsanity
  • Rogue 7:2 FACT Gaming
  • WarKidz 2:7 Team Secret
  • Turtle 1:7 G2 Esports

All the pro teams showed on this day why they are pros. This could be partly due to the fact that they now have to prepare for the EU League matches at the same time and, accordingly, generally train harder.

What’s next? The next match day will take place on July 16. Particularly interesting matches there are Rogue vs WarKidz, which will see if Rogue can maintain its rediscovered dominance or if WarKidz turn out to be the new underdogs, and FACT vs Team Secret, which will see if the German newcomers can recover from their recent defeats.
