Schweini is back in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. The World Champion of 2014 is available as Prime Moments Icon during the FUT Captains Promo via Squad Building Challenge. However, this also has its price.
Since Friday the FUT Captains Promo in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team is running. Because of this, until April 22, EA Sports will honor more players who have or used to have the role of captain in their teams. Among them is Bastian Schweinsteiger, who wore the captain’s armband for FC Bayern Munich and the German national team.

Schweinsteiger is available in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team via Squad Building Challenge (SBC) as a Prime Moments icon. This is the strongest version of the former German world class player. However, the Legends card comes with a hefty price tag. A value of almost 800,000 coins has to be spent to unlock “Schweini”.

Qualities the Prime Moments version of Schweinsteiger can boast. The player card can be used in different positions due to the high 80s and 90s values. However, Schweini can cut a good figure in defensive and central midfield in particular. He has the necessary physicality with high stamina (94), can win balls (90) and on top of that is an excellent passer with 90 values in all areas. This makes him the perfect switch player who can also move forward nimbly and provide dangerous long-range shots.
Schweinsteiger Prime Moments Icon is only worthwhile to a limited extent
Although the German star’s stats are excellent, the high price tips the scales. After all, there are cheaper alternatives. Just about a month ago, an SBC appeared for Augsburg’s Daniel Caligiuri, who received a FUT Fantasy promo. Its values are very similar to Schweinsteiger’s, but the SBC cost was only 50,000 coins. So if you already have the Italian, you don’t need Schweinsteiger in this regard.
With icons, however, there is the advantage that positive links to all teammates are automatically set. This can be an advantage for Schweinsteiger. However, the World Cup hero from 2014 is only recommended for real fans who want him in the team anyway. Especially for fans who experienced the jubilation from the World Cup triumph up close, Schweinsteiger in his best form is a pure nostalgia factor. Nevertheless, only those FIFA players who already own a lot of surplus cards should jump at the expensive SBC in order to reduce the costs significantly.
The good thing about the promotion is the fact that the card will be available for almost three months. So, those who are eager to grind for this promo will have plenty of time to do so. To solve this SBC, eight squads need to be traded in. While the first four squads together only claim a little over 100,000 coins, the value requirement steadily increases after that. The final two requirements cost over 200,000 FUT coins each. Although there are also packs as rewards, which alleviate the costs somewhat, it is still an expensive undertaking.
