Pragmatic Play – Great Rhino Deluxe – Free Slot Game

The popular Great Rhino is back with a fierce bang, this time in a Deluxe version from Pragmatic. The Great Rhino Deluxe slot is released right after the Megaways version, and this essentially gives you a happy medium between the two previous versions. Visually, it looks more or less like the Megaways version, but the energetic tribal soundtrack is brand new and of high quality. However, when it comes to gameplay, the Deluxe version is more like the first game in the series.

The setup is the same and everything takes place on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 ways to win. You can still place bets between 20p and €100 per spin on all platforms and devices, and even the RTP of 96.5% is exactly the same. The medium to high volatility is also the same in the game itself (3 out of 5 on the pragmatics scale), although the maximum win potential has been increased to 6,242x. You can still win 2 fixed jackpots in this game as well, but the bonus features have been changed a bit since the original game.

Accompanied by the tribal drums and choir, you will be taken on an exciting ride through the African savannah here. The Super Respins feature with the Rhino Stampede intro keeps the base game interesting, and this is also how you can win the big and large jackpot. The bonus round is not quite the same as the original game, as you now collect rhino symbols for a final spin release instead of benefiting from additional rhino wilds. All in all, this is a more powerful and slightly different version of the original game and a good option for those who want more potential without having to endure the brutal Megaways volatility.

What are the bonus features?

Great Rhino Deluxe isn’t exactly packed with features, but Pragmatic has given it a certain balance that makes the base game less difficult. We’ll walk you through everything here, starting with the base game feature first.

You can trigger the so-called Super Respin feature if you land at least 2 full stacks of the high-paying Rhino symbol at the same time. The Rhino stacks will become sticky and you will get 3 responses. Each new Rhino symbol you land will also become sticky and the answer list will reset to 3 each time you land one.

This way you either just fill the reels with Rhino symbols, or run out of answers before this happens. You can also land special Rhino symbols for multipliers in this feature, which can land as 2x multipliers. Multiple multipliers are combined and multiplied together for potentially massive wins.

If you manage to fill all but one reel position (i.e. 14 positions) with rhinos, you will win the Major Jackpot, which is set at 375 times your bet. Remember that in this case you will not win a standard payout. If you are lucky enough to fill the entire screen with rhinos only (all 15 positions), you will get the Grand Jackpot worth 500 times your bet.

Free Spins in Great Rhino Deluxe

The free spins bonus round is triggered when you land 3 scatters on the 3 middle reels on the same spin. The scatter symbol is a typical African savannah tree that takes off from the sunset / sunrise. It can only land on reels 2, 3 and 4. Here you get 10 free spins, and Rhino symbols that land during the feature are collected.

On the very last free spin, all the collected rhinos spin great back onto the reels, and this will hopefully lead to a higher payout just before the feature ends. Unfortunately, there is no way to get additional free spins here, and you can’t retrigger the bonus round either.

Game instructions

It’s not too complicated to play this game, and the Pragmatic game interface is also easy to keep track of. Still, we’ll go over all the essentials here, and new players and in particular should probably pay attention. If you have a lot of experience with slots, you can proceed to the next part of the review.

The first thing you should check is the small hamburger menu icon on the bottom left. This will open up the game settings for you. Here you can enable Quick Spin to increase the pace of play. We recommend this if you are an impatient type. You can also turn on and off the background music (which is of high quality in this game, we might add) and/or the game’s FX sounds.

In addition, you can enable battery saving mode when playing on your phone or tablet, and turn the intro welcome screen on and off. You can also set your bet level between 20p and €100 per spin and check your game progress if you have been playing for a while. You can seamlessly adjust the volume using the speaker icon just below the hamburger menu icon.

Click on the “i” button to open the paytable in Great Rhino Deluxe slot. Here you can check all the values for the symbol combination. The paytable is dynamic, as usual with . This means that you can see how much each symbol combination pays out in relation to your total bet. The rhino pays 20 times your bet and is the most valuable symbol in the game. All other animals pay between 10x and 1.25x in comparison.

The wild symbol is the golden coin with a rhino depicted on it and can be used for all regular symbols in the game. The wild can land on all 5 reels and pays 25 times your bet for 5 on a payline. You can scroll through the paytable to get information about the bonus features, game rules and statistics. Finally, you can set up the autoplay feature with 10 to 100 autospins and select turbo autospins here for ultra-fast gameplay.

The 200 Spins Great Rhino Deluxe Experience

Having played the Megaways version of this game quite a bit, we were excited to see what this new Deluxe version was all about. The graphics were clearly borrowed from the Megaways version, which is a nice upgrade from the first game, and we knew from the start that the potential of the Deluxe version was much higher than that of the original game.

We opted for the standard bet size of £2 per spin and were mentally prepared for a somewhat volatile experience. However, it’s not as brutal as the Megaways version, but we still got plenty of smaller wins and some dead spins in the base game. The wild symbol is very helpful in this game and lands quite often as well. We got a lot of smaller wins, and every now and then it delivered medium sized payouts between 7x and 14x.

Towards the middle of our 200-spins test session, we suddenly landed 3 scatters on the reels. The Rhino family stomped across the screen with great force as a voice shouted “rush!” and our adrenaline level went up several notches. The background changed from a scorching hot day to a cool African night and the intensity of the tribal music increased.

We got a decent win of 12.20x on our first free spin, and a similar win right after that. We now had 5 golden frames waiting to release the rhinos on the last spin, and we crossed our fingers for more. We only got one more and we saw the 6 golden frames shift until they filled the top row and the middle position on the bottom row. This earned us a tidy 22.6x win and we pocketed a total of 40.55x from the bonus round.

Shortly after we managed to land 3 full stacks of rhinos on the 3 middle reels, the Stampede Respins feature was activated. We hit all reel positions except 3, which means we barely missed the jackpot. No multiplier rhinos landed, but we still won a solid 172.5 times our bet. This was a nice parting gift from our relatively short session, and we may be back to learn more about this game.

Summary

Great Rhino Deluxe is the third installation in this series and a sort of golden mean between the original game and the Megaways version. The tribal soundtrack is unique and very well done. However, it can take a while to get going, especially for players who don’t like this kind of music. The graphics are better than the original game, and as mentioned before, the game is more or less similar to the Megaways version with a smaller grid.

The volatility is supposedly the same as in the first game (3 out of 5), but we guess it’s really a bit more volatile. The good news is that the 6,242x potential of the deluxe version is much higher than the somewhat weak 900x of the original game. This is really the best option for players who liked the original game but wanted more momentum and aren’t interested in the high-volatility Megaways version. The bonus features have also been changed slightly, but we don’t see what purpose a fourth game in this series would serve.

Pros

Super Respins with 2 fixed jackpots
Free spins with rhino collection last spin release
Medium to high volatility and 6,242x maximum win potential

Cons

Not very original or innovative
