Reel Kingdom has a knack for how much they need to tweak each new installment in their wildly popular fishing slot series. They seem to enjoy walking on the knife’s edge to do what’s necessary to justify a new release, but always enough to make it rewarding and exciting for fans and newcomers alike. In Big Bass Splash you’ll be taken deep into redneck territory, where it’s nothing unusual to casually start your monster truck to go fishing.
Catching fish with a lasso, dynamite or a bazooka doesn’t go either, and with a bit of luck you can reel in up to 5,000 times your stake. This is the biggest potential of the series so far, and you can take up to 5 extras into the bonus round via the pre-feature lasso fishing game. The feature plays out more or less as usual, with a multiplier/retrigger upgrade trail, and you also have 3 random modifiers to help you out.
Bonus Features on Big Bass Splash Slot
The premium symbols pay between 20x (for a row of any fish symbols) and 200x (for the monster truck) for 5 matches. You don’t get wild symbols in the base game, but in the bonus round wild symbols appear to collect fish prizes and regular payout symbols to complete wins. The wild itself is also collected, as we will see.
They trigger the bonus round when 3, 4 or 5 scatters land anywhere on the same spin, and landing just 2 scatters can trigger an extra chance feature . The 2 scatters move down on their respective reels when possible, while the other reels spin. This process repeats until one of the scatters falls off the ground, and it can help trigger the bonus round. You can also get a hook that pulls up the third scatter on one of the reels.
However, before the bonus round starts, you will see a bunch of fish swimming in a circle under the reels. A lasso is thrown from above to catch them, and this can award between 0 and 5 extras from the modifier/feature menu seen on the left. The pre-feature ends when the lasso catches an anchor instead of a fish, and here is an overview of what you can get:
- Additional fish symbols – adds more fish symbols to the reel strips in the bonus round.
- Additional Fisherman Symbols – gives you more Fisherman Wild symbols added to the reel strips.
- Additional Dynamite, Hook and Bazookas – increases your chance to trigger these modifiers.
- Start at Level 2 – you start at retrigger level 2 on the progressive wilds meter.
- +2 Extra Spins – you start with 2 extra FS and +2 are also added to the respective Retrigger FS counts.
The Fishing Wild can appear on any reel in the bonus round, and you need it to collect all the fish prizes. The Fishing Wild is then collected in the display above the grid, and every 4 you collect retriggers the bonus round (+10 or +12 spins). It also awards a cash fish prize multiplier of x2, x3 and x10 respectively, as 3 retriggers/upgrades is the maximum you can get.
There are 3 random modifiers that can be triggered during the bonus round. If you land the fishing wild without fish symbols, you can get fish from the dynamite or bazooka modifiers. If there are fish symbols but no wild fisherman, a hook can pull up the wild fisherman from one of the reels. The bonus buy feature (not available in the UK) costs 100 times your bet.
The 200 Spins Big Bass Splash Slot Experience
You can see a few smaller wins from the base game before we buy the bonus round at 1:22 in the 3:28 minute highlights video. Our lasso-wielding fish luck may not have been the best, as we got the anchor on the first cast, but you can see for yourself by clicking the play button below.
Rating Conclusion
The Big Bass Bonanza series has become a real revenue pearl for Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play, and the market seems far from saturated. You can really picture rednecks fishing with lassos, monster trucks, and bazookas in a backwoods town somewhere, and it’s fun to see it in Big Bass Splash. We’ve seen most of this before, but the pre-bonus lasso hunt for extras is brand new to this installment.
We understand that it’s difficult to change a successful concept, but a little something to spice up the base game would have been desirable. It’s pretty minimalistic without even a wild symbol to help you in any way. However, the 5,000x potential is the highest in the series so far and even beats the Megaways version by a decent winning margin, so Big Bass Splash will no doubt cause a stir in the community.
