PoGO – Pokémon Go: Zamazenta as Raid Boss – Counter Guide

For a whole week at the end of August 2021, you can challenge the legendary Pokémon Zamazenta in Pokémon Go, which will then be available for the time in Niantic’s AR collection game. We have a counter-attack guide for you so that you can successfully fight Zamazenta!

From August 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until September 1, 2021, you’ll encounter a newcomer in Pokémon Go’s Tier 5 Raids – that’s when Gen 8 Legendary Zamazenta will enter the game for the first time. You’ve previously had the opportunity to battle its counterpart Zacian in Heroic Warrior form, and you’ll face the same with Zamazenta this time around; it’ll meet you in its supposedly slightly weaker Heroic Warrior form, rather than as King of the Shield. Nevertheless, we will give you counter for both forms, because you never know when Zamazenta will come into play in its other form.

Zamazenta, Heroic Warrior as Raid Boss in Pokémon Go

As a Heroic Warrior, Zamazenta is a Battle-type Pokémon, and that means it then takes increased damage from Fairy, Flying, and Psychic attacks in particular. You should also take advantage of this weakness if you want to take down the raid boss with 52,195 WP with three or more trainers. It is not yet known which attacks Zamazenta will use. However, if it does resort to Battle-type attacks, it will do more damage to your counter Pokémon in cloudy weather, because Zamazenta will be boosted.

The following counter recommendations are for Zamazenta’s Heroic Warrior form when the Legendary Pokémon is of Fighting type alone. With the form King of the Shield, the types change. Therefore, we give you counter tips after the counters for the Heroic Warrior.

  • Mega Gengar with licker and psychokinesis
  • Mewtu with confusion and psychic blast
  • Mega Dove Boss with wind blast and swoop
  • Metagross with Zen Headbutt and Psychokinesis
  • Lavados with wing flap and sky sweep
  • Lugia with special sensor and air blast
  • Jirachi with Confusion and Psychokinesis
  • Psiana with Confusion and Psychokinesis
  • Gengar with licker and psychokinesis
  • Ho-Oh with special sensor and swoop
  • Rayquaza with Air Blast and Gale
  • Latios with Zen headbutt and psychokinesis

Zamazenta, King of the Shield as a Raid Boss in Pokémon Go.

As soon as Zamazenta comes into play with its shield armor, it is not only of the type Combat, but also of the type Steel. This also changes the best possible counters for the legendary wolf, because it then takes more damage from attacks of the types Combat, Fire or Ground. In addition, he will not only be boosted in cloudy conditions, but also in snow. Keep that in mind! Here are the best counters for fighting Zamazenta, King of Shield.

  • Mega Glurak Y with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade
  • Skelabra with Fire Whirl and Heat Fury
  • Mega-Gengar with Dark Claw and Focus Blast
  • Mega-Glurak X with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade
  • Lucario with counter and aura sphere

Catch Zamazenta in Pokémon Go

If you have successfully completed the battle against Zamazenta and have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball, then Zamazenta has 2,188 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Zamazenta in Heroic Warrior form is boosted to level 25 in cloudy weather, then it has 2,735 CP at perfect 100% IV values. A King of Shield is boosted to level 25 in cloudy weather and snow and has 2,980 CP at perfect 100% IV (unboosted: 2,384 CP). We wish you good luck in the hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
