Kingler is the Gengar of water attackers in Pokémon Go: a real glass cannon. To become a similarly good attacker as Gengar, Kingler lacked until now, however, the appropriate attacks. This will change with the Water Festival, when he finally learns his well-known attack Krabbhammer. Then he could replace Kyogre as the best water attacker.

With the start of the Water Festival on August 23, Kingler and Krebutack will be able to learn the new water charge attack Krabbhammer. It was already assumed in the past that Kingler could get this special attack on a Community Day and thus rise to become the best Water Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Kingler’s base stats break down as follows: 146 CP, 240 attack, and 181 defense. This gives the Water Pokémon similar stats to the Spirit Glass Cannon Gengar. However, since Kingler has never received a suitable moveset, these stats have been wasted …. until now. Because depending on how strong Krabbhammer really gets, Kingler could replace Kyoge as the best water attacker. Redditor IceManC86 put up some charts using gamepress.gg’s DpS calculator that where Kingler could end up in the Pokémon metagame.

If Krabbhammer becomes like Aquahaubitze (including Surfer).

Here’s how Kingler would fare with Krabbhammer if Krabbhammer becomes an attack just as strong as the Community Day attack Aquahaubitze becomes. The chance is slim, but it would make Kingler the DpS king of water Pokémon in Pokémon GO. However, Kyogre would still have a better TDO (Total Damage Output), but Kingler would be the best choice for as of now. Even an attack like Surfer shows that Kingler has potential.

When Krabbhammer becomes a good move

This list shows how Kingler would perform if Krabbhammer became a similarly good move to Surge (wc), Shrubber, Fire Sweeper (bk), Leaf Blade (lb), or Spookball (sb), and how it would compare to Aqua Howitzer. In that case, Kingler would become a real competitor to Kyogre and not just be the budget alternative.

If Krabbhammer becomes like in the Pokémon games.

Here we see how Krabbhammer would perform if the attack is taken 1:1 from the Main of the Pokémon games and treated similarly to currently good attacks like Stone Edge (se), Rage Strike (dp), and Cross Slash (cc). If Krabbhammer is taken from the Main Series without any adjustments, Kingler still ends up among the good water attackers with 44-47 DpS, not coming close to Kyogre or other attackers like Sumpex or Impergator with Aqua Howitzer.

What about Krebutack?

At the end, a comparison between Kingler and Krebutack. If Krabbhammer isn’t changed much, even Krebutack would become a very good attacker for all players who don’t have Kyogre or multiple Community Day Water Pokémon.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
