PoGO – Pokémon GO: What Tornupto’s Legacy Move Lohe Cannonade Is Good For in the Meta

During the last Community Day, Pokémon GO players were able to get a Tornupto with the special attack Lohe Cannonade. But what good is the attack in the meta? It actually improves Tornupto’s position slightly.

There are plenty of viable Fire Pokémon in the Pokémon GO meta, such as Entei, Lavados, Flamara, Heatran, and Glurak. Tornupto, the second evolution of the starter Pokémon Feurigel, was not among them until now. However, during the past Community Day, Pokémon GO players had the opportunity to catch lots of Feurigel. Those who evolved a Feurigel into Tornupto during the event were also able to get a Tornupto with the special attack Lohe Cannonade. But what is this attack actually good for? And does it have a significant impact on Tornupto’s position in the Pokémon GO meta? Based on an analysis by Pokemongohub, we will now take a closer look at this question.

Pokémon GO: Tornupto with Lohe Cannonade – General Information

Compared to other Fire Pokémon like Entei and Lavados or Glurak, Arkani and Dogemon, Tornupto ranks among the weaker representatives of its class. While Tornupto has a high damage output, it can’t keep up with top performers like Entei in terms of defense and stamina, and even draws the short end of the stick compared to Glurak.

With maximum CP of 2,686, an attack value of 223, stamina at 156, and a defense of a meager 53 points, Tornupto does decent damage but goes down quickly in longer raid or arena battles. Unfortunately, Tornupto’s selection of available attacks doesn’t make things much better. Why Tornupto has attacks like Dark Claw and Solar Beam as a Fire Pokémon is something only Niantic probably knows. With 26.45 DPS at the best possible moveset (Dark Claw/Heat Fury), Tornupto is also quite a bit behind comparable glass cannons like Flamara.

Pokémon GO: Tornupto with Lohe Cannonade – DPS Comparison

If we now bring the new, special attack Lohekanonade into play, the DPS table shifts slightly in favor of Tornupto in the comparison, however: Flamara continues to lead the table with the attacks Fire Whirl and Heat Fury and a DPS value of 23.36, followed by Glurak with Fire Whirl and Lohekanonade at 21.95 DPS. Thanks to Lohekanonade in combination with Glow, however, Tornupto now makes it to third place with a DPS value of 20.39, ahead of Arkani and Dogemon.

Pokémon GO: Tornupto with Lohekanonade – Role in the Meta-Game

It is true that Lohekanonade thus increases the DPS output of Tornupto and makes it quite interesting under certain conditions. However, since it is mainly used against Plant and Beetle Pokémon as a Fire type, it ultimately cannot compete with Flamara and Glurak: Flamara scores with significantly better DPS and defense values, while Glurak with its Fire/Flight type combination works twice as effectively against Beetle and Plant Pokémon.

Overall, Glurak therefore remains the better choice over Tornupto, as does Flamara. If you have enough space in your Pokémon stash, you can still keep Tornupto. The Pokémon is quite suitable as a supplement or gap filler in your Fire Team and can also serve as a partial replacement for Flamara under certain conditions. However, you should rather invest your stardust in other Pokémon – Tornupto’s role in the Pokémon GO meta is not worth the effort.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
