PoGO – Pokémon Go: Voltolos as Raid Boss – Counter Guide

In March 2021, you will not only have the opportunity to encounter Voltolos in its incarnation form in Pokémon Go raids, but also in its animal spirit form for the first time since the game’s release. So that you can show the Pokémon who is the master in the house, and so that you capture after a successful battle, we have updated our counter to Voltolos for you.

Update from February 26, 2021: Voltolos makes an appearance in the Pokémon Go Raids. That alone may not sound very interesting, since the incarnation form of the Pokémon has been around for quite some time. But Voltolos also comes into play in the animal spirit form and that will definitely interest one or two collectors. You can meet Voltolos (incarnation form) from March 11, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until March 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. – and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get your hands on a dazzling Voltolos. From March 16, 2021 starting at 10:00 am until March 30, 2021 at 10:00 am, you may then face Voltolos (animal spirit form). The form change will not affect the ideal counter Pokémon for battle, so we suggest the following Pocket Monsters. We have omitted Crypto Pokémon for cost reasons.

  • Rameidon with catapult and rock thrower
  • Rihornior with catapult and rock thrower
  • Mega Rexblisar with Powder Snow and Meteorologist
  • Galar Flampivian with ice tooth and avalanche
  • Terrakium with catapult and hail of stones
  • Mamutel with powder snow and avalanche
  • Demeteros (animal spirit form) with stone throw and hail of stones
  • Despotar with catapult and stone edge
  • Glaziola with ice breath and avalanche
  • Snibunna with ice shard and avalanche
  • Demeteros (incarnation form) with stone throw and hail of stones
  • Mega-Gengar with Dark Claw and Spookball
  • Mewtu with psycho blade and ice ray
  • Brockoloss with catapult and hail of stones

Original news from March 2, 2020: Pokémon Go’s Tier 5 Raids will feature the legendary Pokémon Voltolos from the 5th game generation starting at 10:00 p.m. on March 2, 2020, forming the legendary trio Forces of Nature with the previously playable Boreos and Demeteros, which will likely follow in April. Voltolos, belonging to the types Electric and Flight, you should best meet with Pokémon that have attacks of the types Rock or Ice. You can find out exactly what these are in our guide to the counter Pokémon for Voltolos below.

Pokémon Go: Voltolos as a raid boss

Before you have a chance to add Voltolos to your collection, you’ll first have to bite your way through the quite respectable 46,044 CP that Voltolos has as a raid boss. As mentioned earlier, Voltolos is an Electric and Flight type Pokémon, which is why it gets boosted to level 25 in windy and rainy weather, and when it does, the three Electric attacks in its attack pool (out of six total) are especially painful. You should tackle Voltolos with at least three trainers if you have the perfect counters. Play it safe with four to six high-level players, or seven to nine lower-level trainers. Whichever group size you choose, you should use the following counters:

  • Rameidon with catapult and hail of stones
  • Mamutel with powder snow and avalanche
  • Terrakium with catapult and hail of stones
  • Rihornior with catapult and rock thrower
  • Despotar with catapult and stone edge

You can also fill up your team with the following pocket monsters:

  • Glaziola with ice breath and avalanche
  • Snibunna with ice breath and avalanche
  • Mewtu with Psycho Blade and Ice Beam
  • Brockoloss with catapult and hail of stones

Pokémon Go: Catch Voltolos

If you have successfully completed the battle against Voltolos and have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball, then Voltolos has 1,911 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Voltolos is boosted to level 25 in rainy or windy weather, then it has 2,389 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in your hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
